We call verbs like ‘to go’ suppletive: they’re cooperations of seperate verbs.

Surprisingly, ‘to bring’ is suppletive too: ‘brought’ comes from a different verb than ‘bring’.

Because of their similarity, these closely related verbs merged long ago – and they did so in most Germanic languages.
