I have a literal mountain of letters from students from all over the U.S who felt 'The Kite Runner' enriched their understanding of Afghanistan, of displaced people, and of victims of war and persecution"

7 abortion providers are ready to switch to misoprostol-only medication abortions if a judge bans the main abortion pill, mifepristone, nationwide. That ruling could happen as soon as this Friday.
Pretty much everything that Team "you're overreacting" insisted would never happen after Dobbs is, in fact, happening. It's almost as if they were not arguing in good faith this whole time.

Zany zombies. Giggling ghosts. Wacky witches. What are your fave funny paranormal tales, and why? Writers, what have you written?
Favourite thing I've learned in 2023: Rosenthaler Platz U-Bahn station in Berlin is entirely decorated with radioactive uranium glazed tiles.
@gigabecquerel visited with a geiger counter to check.
I wrote an article about the history of Apple Daily, its rise as a media powerhouse in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and its downfall.
During nearly 26 years, Apple Daily and its founder Jimmy Lai were at the forefront of Hong Kong's struggle for democracy. Lai was a very controversial figure, and his career reflects many of the contradictions of our era.
I thought it was worth looking back and telling the story of this very unusual media outlet.
I didn't mean that that's what you said, but I think people were reading you that way. Just trying to spread some mutual understanding! :)

Really!
Is the tectonic activity on Venus to harsh to preserve fossils? I mean supposing there were ever anything to fossilize?
What if it's just packed with fossils from a lost experiment of life? It would be fitting given the trouble it would take to study such things.
What if... some future mission looking for minerals finds a great mysterious stone shadow of the bones or integument of some lost race of creatures. #ideas
