My name is John, known on the internet as Grasshopper Man. I'm a practitioner of North American #Indigenous spirituality, and my tentative spiritual name is John Yellow Spider. I'm of #Quapaw and Miami #tribal descent.

I am father to 3 amazing children who surprise me constantly with wonders, and husband to a wife who has taught me so much about love and pedagogy.

I am lead of the Windows Graphics and Compute Kernel at Microsoft, where we support heterogenous compute devices like GPUs and NPUs through the WDDM and MCDM driver models.

My education is in physics and philosophy, where I sought to understand the relationships between language, meaning, and science. My interests span mathematics (hypergeometric functions, combinatorics, algebraic geometry, (co)homology, topos theory, domain theory, sieves, and a variety of others), physical sciences (foundational theories like QM, general relativity, string theory, LQG, as well as systems sciences like materials science and solid state, computational chemistry, and neurophysiology), social sciences (economics, linguistics, social structure), and a number of other areas. I’ve been called “a scanner not a sinker”, which though insulting may also hold some truth. Ask me about generalized trigonometry or my theory of a Machian distance-only interpretation of classical and quantum mechanics that does not reify space!
