I recently did a massive redesign of a 3d printed magnetic stirrer I designed a few years back. Here's a brief writeup showing what changed (and why) and the evolution of the design process. https://www.cartesiancreations.com.au/design-revising-the-magnetic-stirrer/
Apropos of nothing, here are a few recent screenshots from #GenshinImpact that I took while playing.
I noticed my daughter’s screenshots tended not to have the controls overlaid, so I poked around and realized I could have my character carry a “kamera” and take unadulterated shots.
Happy National Mathematics Day!
Today we celebrate the beauty and power of numbers and the endless possibilities they bring. Whether you're a math enthusiast or just appreciate its practical applications, take a moment to appreciate the role math plays in our lives.
I am celebrating the solstice, the shortest day of the year, winter arrival, at -40ºC/-40ºF in my stunning winter wonderland and creating warmth in this powerfully cold temperature. My friend Maria Cherwick added a Unkraian fiddle tune alongside my drum. I'm sending warmth and joy to the world. Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/XWiT5NA_3Z8

You must now abide by this result! Somehow! :D
Last summer, Dr. Adrian Smith joined me in the field to capture video of the excavation of an undescribed species of burrowing crayfish. Three hours of digging (we were in the middle of a dry spell), untold numbers of mosquito bites, and a wee bit of caked on mud later I got one. And Adrian’s footage of it was magical; check out the video on his AntLab YouTube channel here:
This is the crayfish I dug that day. It’s a gorgeous form of Cambarus reduncus, the Sickle Crayfish. Using an integrated approach, we have discovered a lot of “hidden” diversity in North Carolina and South Carolina in this group of crayfishes (Depressicambarus), which includes both secondary and primary burrowing species. Finding the animals can be the most challenging aspect of this work! 📸 Michael A. Perkins, NCWRC. #crustmas #crayfish #crustacea

That's just a line on a graph, though; what are you claiming about it?
It looks like there were 100-200k more deaths in 2019-2021 than normal. This matches the more detailed statistics (the number of reported deaths from COVID19) pretty well.
Are you proposing with your linear plot starting in 2010ish that it's not COVID19 causing those extra deaths, but something else, which has caused deaths to increase (from your line) by about 25K per year since 2010? What do you think that thing might be?
If that's the case, that's even more alarming than COVID!
We have two pound-save brother cats. They've been living here about 10 years. Recently, a friend had to give up her pound-save cat, a calico female. Now the boys are each about 2 times the size of the female. But she's got them skeered . Last night I described this to a friend, and he said "So she stomped in with a cigarette hanging out of the corner of her mouth" Yep. 😂
@Astrid
Sure, that makes perfect sense as a general principle.
But in the specific case where a work was licensed for non-commercial use only, say, and then some company used it for a commercial use, it seems only fair that that doesn't just get ignored.
