Was listening to a news segment in the car the other day about how more narcotics are being cut w/ fentanyl. Seemed like the message of the story was "test your drugs." All of sudden I felt extremely old, b/c I was struck by how far we've come in 40 years, when the prevailing public message was, "Just say no."
1984: Just Say No.
2024: Test Your Drugs.

@the_etrain I ❤️ Huckabees makes me laugh every time. Not sure what that says about my mental state, but I would totally hire the existential detectives (Lily Tomlin and Dustin Hoffman) to investigate me and find out.
Scotland, PA is also hilarious. It's Macbeth but as a dark comedy set in a fast food restaurant in the 1970s. It's got Christopher Walken. Enough said.

Someone who I love told me that they’re feeling a lot of anxiety about climate change. I didn’t know what to say.
I am devastated about the incalculable suffering that is to come, but I’ve kind of compartmentalized it. I didn’t start it and I can’t fix it. (Yes, I can help a little.)

Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder
We ran out of bread, so I made two (smallish) loaves of bread, and now we have #bread again!
BREAD
2 cups warm water
2 tsp or 1 packet yeast
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp vegetable oil
Add flour until muddy (2 C or so)
1/2 tsp salt
Stir 100 strokes, rise 45 minutes
Addmore flour until dough (3 C or so)
Knead, rise 45 minutes
Punch down
Form into 1 or 2 loaves
Put into oiled / PAMmed bread pan(s)
Let rest while oven preheats to 350°
Bake for 40-60 minutes, until done
Tada! I kneaded some cool butter into this one, for a little extra richness. #recipe
