I don't think Mastodon differs in this respect, actually. In fact when I started following people it was far worse than Twitter had ever been. Every post was raging at Elon Musk, or social justice issues. I unfollowed a bunch of people and I'm trying to focus on more centrist or 'topic oriented' posters. It seems to have gotten better over time. I think you might be on a good server too.
@leo

I keep accidentally calling him 'Andrew Taint'. I'm at peace with that.

I actually had no idea Tumblr was still open. I mean, I knew it existed and I'd heard it mentioned but I didn't know it was still an active community.

This was also my 2022 experience.

We smuggled some pizza off the island. I left it in the trunk until the company leaves. They wouldn't appreciate it.

Sam Harris clarifies and contextualizes what's happening with Elon Musk, the #Twitterfiles controversy and what's wrong with Twitter and social media. samharris.org/podcasts/making-

I encouraged my fiancee (now wife) to get a DIY framework laptop based on the repairability and the enthusiastic response from the community. It seemed like a good purchase at first. When the laptop wouldn't power on due to the battery issue in the 11th Gen, I was disappointed, but hoped that it would not repeat. It has repeated, and the response from the company has been insufficient. 1/

I love atheists because they choose to be good not out of fear of hell but because it’s the right thing to do.

The room full of Fiddler's came back from their break and are now playing sombre, discordant drones and I am wondering if drugs have something to do with it.

Apparently it's Jim Reid's 61st birthday. The Jesus & Mary Chain are my all-time favourite band. Their single best song, in my opinion, is Rollercoaster.

I love this scene from The Triplets of Belleville. The joke is perfectly, exquisitely on the nose about animating the deference of the waiter and his ability to 'bend over backwards' to serve. youtu.be/L4CVtL0fuBM

A book called "The Obstacle is the Way" was a big help to me -- and stoicism in general. Simply put, no one person can fight all the battles and so getting upset over the things you cannot change is futile at best.

@JadeintheNorth @Rasta @susanhood I would also love to hear more about pear poaching. And lobster rolls for Christmas is a fantastic idea.

Exactly. I'm referring to sinus meds, antihistamines, Ibuprofen -- all the runny nose, cough, sneeze related meds are sold out on the island.

LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky

"Pre-pandemic,~1% of all jobs posted on LinkedIn were remote. As of today, that number is ~14%...but that's not the fascinating part. What's fascinating is north of 50% of all job applications on a daily basis on LinkedIn go to that 14% of remote jobs"

I'm coming down with a cold and I've just heard for the first time that apparently over-the-counter cold medication is sold out everywhere in , .
