Hello all! #introduction
I'm a Postdoc at CUHK working at the application of #MachineLearning, #Neuroscience in Psychology.
Love to see you all at Mastodon!! Great to meet you all in the decentralized social network!!
I have three cats and two dogs :)

Hello all! #introduction
I'm a Group Leader at HHMI Janelia Research Campus working at the intersections of #ComputerVision, #MachineLearning, #DataScience, #Neuroscience, #Ethology, #HCI, #SoftwareEngineering. I work on using computer vision, machine learning, and technology in general to help us gain insight into biology. My most cited work involves tracking and behavior analysis of flies and mice. I love algorithms and trying to understand how and when they work and what they're good at. But also I'm an engineer and want to solve problems however I can, regardless of elegance!
I like sunshine, being outside, #climbing, and #crosswords. I dream of someday leaving it all behind and moving to Bishop or Yosemite or the Rockies or something.

#MastodonClients - Desktop Linux client first impressions:
#Whalebird:
+ (some) keyboard navigation, (some) customization
- heavy (Electron), little bugs (keyboard scroll-down far enough and it randomly takes you to the top of the timeline)
#Tootle
+ Beautiful visual design, quick buttons for favourites, lists, etc.
- No keyboard navigation, archived project (no updates)
#Tokodon
+ Quick to load, everything happens snappily
- pretty barebones, barely any customization
(part 1 of ?)
On a "can't believe it" success high!
I couldn't get #ROS2 v4l2 camera node (#Ubuntu 22.04 Server on #RaspberryPi) to pass video, but did manage to build libcamera/libcamera-apps and and a node that passes 10 frames a minute.
I can visually see "what the robot is seeing" to compare with the current rviz2 map topic.
My #GoPiGo3 mounted RPi4 is running 30-40% cpu load, using 700MB memory, keeping a cool 55degC. Everything on the RPi except the visualization apps - rviz2 and rqt-image-viewer.
@derickflorian @misterioss Good day to you, may you overthrow whatever supresses you :)
Since on Mastodon there's a higher chance of non-followers seeing this, I might as well do an #introduction :)
Hi, I'm Arturo, I tinker with #electronics, #pcb, #kicad, #firmware, #opensource, #openhardware
I'm the founder of a company named Solder Party, if you're in the electronics community, you might've seen my stuff. Everything I release is open source, SW and HW.
Helpful #feditip for following hashtags!
- Enable the advanced web interface in Settings > Preferences > Appearance. this gives you a Tweetdeck-esque multicolumn layout
- Search for/click on a hashtag and it'll add a new column for that single hashtag.
- Click on the settings for that new column and enable "Include additional tags for this column" and add any related ones
- Now you have a permafeed for hashtags!
(This doesn't work on iOS, as far as I can tell)
Hello, I’m new to the QOTO and the Fediverse and want to introduce myself.
I’m currently making a career transition to software engineering. I have worked in Python a little bit in the past year and am currently starting to use C. My interest/area of work is #embedded #softwareEngineering although I’m very new to it and software engineering in general. I am going back to school to get an Associates in Computer Engineering to hopefully fill in some gaps that I have.
Outside of work I am slowly working on a #mud using the #evennia framework in Python. I also enjoy spending time with my kids by going on walks around town. My oldest son just started cubscouts and I am glad he is enjoying camping because it’s something I have always enjoyed too!
I’m looking forward to connecting with other people here and on other Mastodon servers too.
A new #introduction because there's another rush on SDF Mastodon due to External Events:
I am a professional computer scientist and educator in computer science and engineering. I love #retrocomputing and old tech, #HamRadio, and #programming.
For those on @SDF, welcome to #SDF, please leave the place better than you found it. We have a great community here.
If you're on another instance, welcome to the #fediverse, please respect each other and our instance.
@stux I stopped posting on twitter because everything seemed to end up in an argument
Feeling real chipper on here at the mo ☺️
One thing that really stood out to me about this current #TwitterMigration is that the people who are migrating are such wonderful and loving people who are just looking for a better digital home
❤️
I mean, in the past we've had more migrations but not always very plessant so to say😇
But this time I am so happy to see we already have much in common
This makes our lives as admins a lot easier, trust me!
Thank you
Just came across this on the birdsite and am resharing it here because this just made me go "OMG yes!"

Lots of interesting info. Some surprises:
* Gender disparity in data science is dismal and not improving.
* VSCode & Colab are on the rise.
Tune in to my church’s live stream if interested!

Time for everyone to upgrade their tzdata to the latest version, particularly if your software needs to work properly in Mexico (which enacted permanent DST on short notice).
Someone should translate Matt Johnson-Pint's article into Spanish: https://codeofmatt.com/on-the-timing-of-time-zone-changes/
Okay let's make a first little Introduction:
Hi, I am Alex, you might already saw me on Twitter, hackaday.io or in real life. Currently living in Munich. Will post mostly about my electronics Projects (PCBs, LEDs...) and occasional Travelling. Here are some nice picture of old projects, expect more and new soon.
Just broke into software development. Currently struggling to grasp C!
