I am bringing in twitter posts I liked or made myself. Into the fediverse, but not at qoto since our instance is blacklisted for now.
And just finished setting up MOA for a test, seems good, nice options including a choice of only crosspost if a hashtag is present on it. Neat, thanks for the referral.
@freemo
I don't have interest in posting at the bird's either, but there is some content that I would like to bring here.
Light casual user there, I have *way* more posts here in Fedi in a few weeks than in twitter in a few years.
Thank you! Will have to try that. My account here at Qoto is my primary Fediverse instance, so I really need to use it as an incoming destination for any crossposts I made.
@freemo
This is so far the only one I know, could you recommend and suggest others?
Maybe Renato wil lsee this thread and reconsider the site's black listing. I have sent him a DM from my other instance inviting him to visit/see this thread.
Coming soon, a logical option, would be a Blog.
WordPress is part of the Fediverse too, and I would not consider Blogger since it's GoogleProperty.

@freemo
I have received posts here done via Crossposter, yes.
The only barrier is a Qoto account not being accepted when configuring the crossposter. So I used my other, low profile account instead. 😉
And the posts flowed instantly after I made one in Twitter.
@freemo @johnlitt we are all discovering things here everyday.
I did read the About this server page even before signing up, but being new to the whole fediverse, there was just so many new things. We need time to understand and process them.
Plus a good laptop/desktop, zillion open tabs, a nice image editor to collect fine imagery to enhance our posts (and add to others in replies).
Been doing all of the above, and enjoying the intellectual stimulation greatly.
I write whole threads describing my new exploratory things, and find that helps me organize my thoughts, better grasp the workings and also share with others.
@jarwin Hello and welcome.
Yes, lots of good tips, see this guide: https://lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-guide-to-mastodon-1828503235
And I would definitely recommend using a laptop or desktop computer to read and participate. There's just too much, great things to discover, using a mobile is limiting.
But the option is there. Enjoy your stay. 😉
@shibaprasad I haven't enabled Masto to Twitter sicne I rarely use it there, but it's possible, here are the controls screenshot (all diabled atm)
We have a discussion thread going about it here: https://qoto.org/web/statuses/103194012667400163
@shibaprasad It can do one, the other or both ways, your choice.
You need to authenticate and authorize the app in an account on each side, so a post can be moved across. Even if you only porting it one way.
But it's fast, has all kinds of options, explained in a simple control page.
I like it, very fine software!

I have sent the author a DM from my other account, at a different instance, thanking him for the nice tool and inviting a visit to this thread if he likes.
Because I am getting to know and experimenting with a new tool (Crossposter for Twitter and Mastodon - https://crossposter.masto.donte.com.br/), I missed a configuration option, and my post above did not include the proper OP linky.
It's here, and has been very popular there too. https://twitter.com/Gurdur/status/1198192621203709952
...and upon experimenting, I realize why something did not work as expected - my fault for missing a check box, to get RT with LINKS included.
It's all there, both for original posts and for Quote (a ReTweet where someone added their own text on top of a RT original).
Done and all should work as expected now.
Tested and it works to include a mention to someone's Fediverse address - it went thru perfectly, and became live in the Fediverse as soon as cross-posted here.
Awesome tool.
ReToot of a ReTweet, so fellow QOTO folks don't miss it.

Amazing, wonderful. 👍 sending over to @design_RG

An aerial view of a sheepdog as it demonstrates fluid mechanics, and it also shows a sheep is a particle, while a flock is a wave.
@johnlitt They both have good points. A local server could be available no matter the status of the Internet connection. And local traffic would not need to go out, it's all inside private network address space.
If you have enough uses for it, it would make sense to spend the time and energy (electricity included) to keep one up.
Haven't used a VDM server until now, so my experience on that is very limited.
Playing with and testing the crossposter, lots of fine controls for privacy, etc. Well thought and designed interface, and it works well, as advertised.
Great work Renato!
