@birdtowncomics You are doing well, was just a suggestion.
Keep it up, BC. ![]()
By sheer chance, I had seen an ad yesterday for someone selling their rigs in the regional online classifieds.
Not as neat as the examples above, pics attached. Asking price is CAD$1300, about 1K USD.
Don't know how well this setup would compare to Jeff's, but the listing is here atm - will disappear soon if sold.
@birdtowncomics Yuo are very welcome!
Have you ever tried Japanese Haiku?
I think you would enjoy and do well at it!
@birdtowncomics Very nice. TY!
@johnlitt Ah, I wouldn't know.
The emoticons you used, they represent the rhythm?
@esperera_98 It's a wonderful film, hopefully someone who hasn't seen it yet might discover it via our posting here. 😉
Witchhunting was very useful to get rid of any unwanted, opinionated people.
Plus, confiscate their property, the judge could decide how to dispose of it....

^--- awesome post!
wild guessing, but something by The Police?
Di-di-di, da-da-da, etc comes to mind.
Probably off, but curious.
@chikara Thank you for a nice and relevant post. The process is ongoing, we haven't reached conclusions yet.
There were many goopd posts and points made, we had people participating from different instances even. The question of controlling undesirable actions and content being add to any particular instance or service is important.
The voting on the open survey you mentioned had very small number of votes, and even those were not restricted to local, verified users. So I wouldn't take it as a mandate for a certain direction.
Qoto is in a way VERY unusual - in having this kind of discussion out in the open, on a public feed, that is spread out across the whole Fediverse and the Federation too.
(yes, there's TWO biggies, I have learned recently)
I have been participating in many networks actively for many years, starting from the pre-Internet days. And this kind of discussion was held "In Camara", on meetings for site staff, or on a physical meet at some public space in case of a local entity.
While we had that and another related big discussion (the instance's thematic focus and the surging unrelated, general posting by new users).
That is equally important, and also was done in the open.
Meanwhile, posting continued as usual, but I think we are making progress.
Leadership is important in all kinds of aspects in life. Here as well, there's space for anyone who is caring and willing to pitch in.
Visited Jeff's blog earlier this morning, to see a poem he linked to, a nice one.
Noticed a link to other post, and it's a lovely article - about operating a crypto mining at home, with off the shelf components. Which paid for itself nicely, despite what we hear about server farms being unbeatable (which is true for Bit Coin, BTC)
His setup was specifically for mining Ether, and by nature that process benefit systems using Graphics cards for the processing.
Very cool project! Glad it worked out, the hardware is exquisite. He explains it well too. 🎅
@johnlitt
Quite possible that an easy to access, direct playback source will attract attention and action from the media industry.
Distributed sources would be ideal, but then it's huge storage needs and complicates matters.
Taking a risk in case of an instance that's active in other ways, like ours, is though; you could damage the mastodon service if a media share attracts litigation.
@johnlitt Love the right side one!
great idea. So needed.
@johnlitt
Fully agreed!
I created collection projects for themes that interested me, then scoured different places and collated what I could find. It's great fun and you make things accessible to others, much easier or impossible to find them sometimes.
The advent of paid online streaming services got many people off the peer to peer networks, but they may realize sometime that the content is not always there.
License renewal time, and many things are not re-optioned, disappear and can't be found on Netflix or the others in that field.
It's happening with Music as well some of my older playlists having numerous greyed out selections, same reason.
Collecting is good. A local copy is important. SHTF might happened, I always thought I might become the local librarian in that case.
@realcaseyrollins Very true. It could be them seeking escape from the pressure and despair at possible failure too.
My son would disappear off the ether anytime that major evaluations, projects or exams where close by.
Oh, no typo that I notice, but I did notice the second post with freemo's mention, seemed that you had forgotten?
