This has some background explanations that help understand the Fed's panicky emergency meeting and slashing of interest rates.

They are worried about a crisis of liquidity in the financial markets, similar to the one that started in 2008 and forced huge measures by central banks to avoid a seize up.

Calling smartphone equipped teenagers 'digital natives' is a mistake because a smartphone makes you a consumer rather than a native of anything.

If you want a child to become a digital native give them an actual computer instead of a corporate controlled and curated consumer device.

A nice read, article tells how an Italian family is coping with the changes in their lives under the CV spread. I found it intesting and inspired.

Earlier this morning, @Lyudmila posted a link to a Spanish language blog, which talks about a new prescription drug developed and manufactured in Cuba, called Interferoan Alfa 2B, which seems to be effective in helping the more serious cases of Covid19.

The article mentions 1500 patients having been saved, and the drug being unique at the moment.

"Here’s an interplanetary botany discovery that took college students and not NASA scientists to find: Hops — the flowers used to add a pleasant bitterness to beer — grow well in Martian soil.

“I don’t know if it’s a practical plant, but it’s doing fairly well,” said Edward F. Guinan, a professor of astronomy and astrophysics at Villanova University."

Good article on the NY Times with data and insight on how the epidemic (and resulting travel slow down, cancelations, etc) is affecting Airbnb, its hosts and other large travel sites.

There was a request on an earlier post for some quantifiable measure of quality or otherwise of the head of the current US administration. The Washington Post keeps a database, notice its last updated January 16th, so current numbers would be higher yet.
