Meta’s new app “Threads” is up pre-order in the App Store. Let’s do a quick check on what data they want from you compared to the official Mastodon app, Mammoth and Ivory.
Spoiler: Meta wants to know and track everything about you, and Mastodon doesn’t want anything.
The Zuck suck is in full swing. In the few short hours since I started using #Threads, #DuckDuckGo has already blocked over 200 data tracking attempts. These include things like "headphone status" and "screen density."
I love it here. I love this open-source privacy-respectful social media and how it is descentralized. In the case my current server changes policies in a way that I'm no longer happy I'd just move to another instance. I won't even consider Threads for the same reason I left facebook four years ago and the same reason I never opened an instagram account: I HATE how the company opperates, moves towards monopoly and treats their users' personal data. For everyone out there wondering about this, consider that Mastodon do not collect your personal data the way Meta and now Threads does.

I demand more of these for other languages too xD 🖤

What I find genuinely beautiful about knowing several languages is how the world looks bigger and you find yourself free of some limits.. I found a free download of 'A Beautiful Mind' in italian and I had no problem to that. I can read the news of other countries and speak to poeple from everywhere... but nothing compares to read the original works of some authors in their original languages. No translations, no misunderstandings, just exactly what the author wrote; like this, the original Einstein's paper 'Kosmologische Betrachtungen zur allgemeinen Relativitätstheorie". This paper is quite important (well.. each one of his papers, specially the ones from that year xD) because in here he introduces us the cosmological constant. There must be translations over there, but I'd rather read exactly what he wrote. Btw, is kinda interesting that some of his equations (if not all, but wth do I know, I'm starting, and too late -_-) are displayed differently in our current textbooks. For example, the famous equation \(E=mc^2\) was not explicitly set, and the original equation where cosmological costant is first introduced looks slightly different from the one universally accepted today. There are some reasons for this, but that's another topic, and a really big one.
Btw, this part of the article reminded me of the reason of why I started to feel interest in learning programming seriously. Somehow I still find myself resistive to the idea of diving into Computer Science... but I've finally decided that I'm gonna take it seriously ... I guess I should have before since I was looking for a job in the area... but that's just fine, better later than never xD ... anyway, someone told me once that while reading some papers he could not do but wonder how the shitty code in there even worked... that still causes me nightmares haha .. imagine you wrote your article and in the other side of the world someone wonders how the hell your code even works 🤣🤣💔 mmm tomorrow gonna check this code.. hopefully it'll be great haha
Ok I just read this amazing paper 🖤 basically the data collected over two decades with a considerable big sample size is consistent to the cosmological dependence as this represents -I quote- "further evidence that we inhabit an expanding relativistic universe. The math is basically Bayesian approach, Markov Chain and Monte Carlo. The authors attributed the prior lack of evidence to small sample sizes, as I understood. Check this out 🖤 I got the impression that this article is going to get far... It is now on Nature too.
Pd. I told my mom after watching this stupid video telling that JWST recent observations disprooves the big bang theory and went as far as denying the expanding universe, that what we perceive as 'time' is only possible due to the universe being in expansion... I still feel like I'm wrong and honestly just wanted to win the debate xD haha however I told so because I do believe that and that is somehow obvious, and that if mistaken, I'll be told otherwise when I advance my beautiful but hard af carreer .. any discussions on the topic are welcome.

Well... as a physics student who's in the beginning or her carreer and currently in pause I thought this was common knowledge in the field and I thought I surely was going to be told so later ._. isn't it kinda obvious if time and space are instrinsecally related? 😐 I'm happy as f*ck that this basically confirms that idea 🤩🤩🤩

I don't think you need to be in infosec to find this tool tremendously useful! go ahead, check it out :3
@shibaprasad Well, we already have a lot of media sites here.. I follow a lot of them. The only thing I do not have here that I did in twitter was the trends from my country and how much people gets involved in a discussion ... that's will change to the extent Mastodon gets more users and developers get involved with the project!
Awwwww 😍 such a cute design!
I sometimes regret leaving Twitter ... but most of the time I don't xD
F*ck that childish assh0l*.
@alecui Haha exactly!!! but for what is worth, conservatives have always existed, so I'm sure they also were against end of slavery and witchhunt and we know they lost. Society progress is inexorable and based on what history tells us, it seems to me that they're condemned to lose regardless of the time. Those are great observations btw... they do seem to think end of tradition = outsiders are coming for them!
