So here's my #introduction and shockingly, it should not have typos in it. I'm a chemical engineer by training, now working in IT accessibility. I'm hoping that I can get back into science and engineering as it's most definitely my first love as far as work. Really enjoying reading Mastodon and looking forward to getting to know others in the fetaverse.

🎉 #Mastodon 4.0 is out now! This server software update includes a ton of improvements, like following hashtags, translating posts, editing, an improved filtering system, customizable user roles for administration, but also some important security fixes.

Does anyone else have a problem with Metatext where there’s no enter button on the keep to space out text on posts?

@flsounds it does very much remind me of the early days I was a student then so had more time to spend in those places than I do this one but it’s the consciousness of engagement, people here seem to comment thoughtfully rather than to outrage or gain attention. It’s nice. Not to mention the extended character limit leads to people sharing bigger thoughts. You might be able to tell I’m a big fan.

Turn signals and hazard flashers on the ol Hondo quit working - no buzz, lights or anything. "Catastrophic failure" is the technical term.

Track it down to the flasher unit - as suspected - pull it. It's not your usual automotive flasher. Has 6 legs, solid state, two relays inside and a load resistor

I'd replaced that load resistor years ago to solve a 'hyperflash' issue - but, it was fried black and in half

Thankfully got spares on hand. Good too, as new, they're about $80 each!

I know most of us are grumpy at the time change, cold weather, and busyness of the winter months. Tell me though, please….What little things do you really look forward too about this time of year, or get to rediscover your love for around this time? For me it’s long sleeve shirts. I feel like I’m wearing armor basically compared to what I wear during the summer months.

I would love to downplay the significance of the errant #Russian missile that killed 2 #Polish people—as it’s clearly not an “attack” on a #NATO member state—but remember the world went to war over a Prince dude getting shot by a Serbian nationalist. That’s how easy things can escalate. I pray the U.S. plays a role of de-escalation, despite its bellicosity. We cannot let this suck the world into #WWIII
