Why have I never seen mac and cheese done with spaghetti before... I feel like we could be out there living our best lives, but this is the one thing keeping that from happening.

@uncapybarable all the baked mac and cheese I've had tends to be more like a "pie" (carribean style).. so not sure how that would work with spaghetti.

@freemo The mac in "Mac and Cheese" is for macaroni which is not spaghetti by definition. So, perhaps you just want "Spaghetti and cheese" but that's already a thing and there are many similar recipes that are heavy on cheese and/or bacon bits like four cheese, Alfredo, carbonara, etc..

@zpartacoos yea im talking traditional mac and cheese style sauce (with mild cheddar, butter, and milk) on spaghetti. The ones you mention are entirely different beasts.

but yea the name wouldnt entierly fit.

@zpartacoos @freemo
I think he meant cheese with pasta in general... I could be wrong.

@lucifargundam

Indeed, in philly it is rather common to use "macaroni" to mean "all pasta"

I wonder what cheese on ramen(or udon,etc) noodles would taste like...

@lucifargundam

Being softer noodles I doubt I'd like that. mac and cheese needs nice firm noodles.

@zpartacoos

@freemo Mac n cheese? Spaghetti and parmesan? Cheesey raviolis?

@lucifargundam those are all entierly different beasts... has to be made from melted down safety cones to count!

Ok so the verdict is in. Standard mac and cheese sauce (mild soft cheddar + milk + butter) is amazing on spaghetti. Only thing is due to the increased surface area of the spaghetti you need to up the ratio of milk somewhat to get a bit more liquid sauce. Otherwise it was fantastic.

@freemo There is a noodle etiquette in some cultures. I think it has to do with the noodles and the sauce.
