I never would have heard about Threads if it werent for the fediverse... which I find ironic because I signed up to it just to keep an eye, something i wouldnt have done if it wasnt for the anti-threads commotion going on over here.
@undefined @freemo @bykimbo I agree -
First is not to communicate online like it's not a problem in itself via obviously ecroaching / invasive mentalities and 'bu$y-ness'.
Add to that fact, that many other people are not conscious or bothered enough to choose wisely is also cause for concern because they are *knowingly* blind and irresponsible (KNOWINGLY IRRESPONSIBLE) - so that for me is priority which is also in response to the next comment ( by Free Peoples Free Press ) and for those that think they want communication 'with everyone' and that including more bad people in the mix is good.
Ultimately without the right people involved or right faculties / mindset / intentions ETC it's not good to talk.
@freemo do you believe Threads aims to be part of the Fediverse in its future versions, like the introductory pop-up on the app claimed?
It'd be funny if it happened

Must install Meta? Uhm...
@freemo signing up just to compare is okay, but I'm not signing up to #threads
because the entire point of federation is so that you don't need a separate account everywhere. (Once they actually enable federation)
As for the commotion it seems weird and a lack of understanding what federation means.
Like what does it matter if you are using a small/your own email server if Gmail joins the email system.
They aren't going to start sending you spam (that would get them blocked).
But it does mean you can now send messages to and from people you know on that system, with no down sides.
Having the #Freedom for each person to choose if they want an ad free small server, or a big player that might have a slicker interface/search (but has adverts), while still being able to communicate with each other is a good thing.
@sgryphon agreed here
@sgryphon @freemo
□Because of the encouragement to start using / communicating with those types of ma$$ive corporations around mostly those who wanted to escape them?
□Because of their past record / history / size / ability / threat / force in markets / existing info on us?
□Because corps don't care?
■To communicate while being undermined is not good.
■Less communication with Gmail the better in the sense of your text / communication being copied / offered up for harvest to them when you mail them (and your friend).
Do any of these hit home?
@freemo I haven't seen any commotion, but that's down to not spending enough time here. I think the stumbling block for me has been real life friends not engaging. But I'll stay and keep trying to improve my habits.
