Another hot day, another bath. It is still rough around the edges esthetically, but I'd say that ecologically is quite stable: the fishes (gambusia) are able to eat most of the mosquito's larvaes and are providing enough fertilizer for the plants to grow; papyrus, iris and lotus are giving enough oxygen to fishes, and are eating up most of their feces, keeping the water clean.

@aral Your confusing caputalism with the right. Conservatism has nothing to do with capitalism and libertarinism has nothing to do with capitalism or the right.

There are plenty of people who prescribe to both of course. But that doesnt mean we should conflate the issues.

@arteteco
Don't worry it is here to stay. I have too much of my own resources. We also have a few more people other than just us two but they haven't been active lately.

Qoto sdoesnt have an official meaning yet. But my current interpritation is "Question Ourselves, and Teach Others"

@aral
While that's certainly a valid definition, even if we accept that definition I wouldn't say it describes centralized systems since there are no colonies, just a single uniform system. A better analogy might be libertarianism vs dictatorship.

@aral
I'd say it's the other way around. Colonial is characterized by many small and new colonies spread out over large distances. Describes decentralized more than centralized.

I'd like to publicly thank @freemo for this qoto.org instance. We basically have a kickass instance with unlimited characters, full-text search and more just for the two of us =D
I hope that regardless of the little activity qoto is here to stay (... is it?)

A question here: What does qoto stand for?

@pixelfed Oh nice, did you release your recent WIP? Can't wait to check it out.

@absolutus Also keep in mind i work american time. So i work 3pm to about midnight dutch time. So I will likely be working when you arive.

@trwnh @dansup I have to agree, keeping commits "secret" tends to be an open-source killer. branches are used to help keep it out of main code while still letting contributors work with (rather than against) the main contributor.

Sitting on the commits (for over a month now) tends to create a lot of fallout from OSS communities on projects where one person does most of the code.

Its your project of course, so do what makes you happy. But if the goal is to create contribution (and discourage forking) its usually a good idea to commit often.

@zinat The docker files would have to be one directory up from the repo. It would work best to create a new repo for it and have your repo as a submodule to it.

@zinat let me know if you want me to package up the dockerfile and docker-compose.yml file for you to use. I edited your source a bit so the redis host is no longer hardcoded to localhost, as such the redis host runs in a seperate docker container and is linked via compose.

@zinat Actually the docker image and docker-compose I've been working on appear to be fully working, your welcome to use it. Since I couldnt get a UI anywhere to evaluate the project I gave up on it. Is the client at least alpha-level usable?

@ral , how is your little fella doing? My gingers are doing fine, I love the way they grow in neat angles!

qoto.org/media/YsX81AhsPUJZFWl

@dansup well that would be in their best interests usually. Lets hope when they see what you can do they will change their minds.

Where is the most recent code for us to contribute to?

@dansup I was refering to the dansup/pixelfed repo's master branch.

They will wind up contributing whether its their intention or not. Just merge in any commits they make in their fork that you like.

@dansup You'd have to ask them what they hope to gain from a fork. Perhaps its just impatience? I think master on pixelfed is a month stale now, people might just be scared its stalled?
