@Ponygirl By the way, new thread (for tomorrow). I noticed you are a speech therapist. I recently noticed, through my own observations, that accent acquisition seems to occur **before** language acquisition. I notice this in babies who cant form words yet, but also in animals who havent quite evolved speech yet but can communicate, for example I have noticed it in both cats and dogs.

Any thoughts on this?

Regular reminder that Jewish people, as a whole, cannot be blamed for what the #Netanyahu regime is doing in #Gaza / #Palestine. Most Jewish people cannot vote in #Israeli elections, do not have influence over that government, and overwhelmingly dislike Netanyahu himself. Even in israel, we see a chunk of the population openly protesting what is happening: support is not unanimous there. Even then, the majority of support is coming from anger and fear, not some innate desire to carry out #genocide.

Blaming Jewish people, as a whole, for what a group of extremists are doing in #Palestine is not only as absurd as people blaming #Palestinians, as a whole, for what Hamas did, it is counterproductive to the greater movement, where Jewish voices are the most effective ones.

Antisemitism is no more a winning argument than #islamophobia, and neither are really appropriate or civil discourse.

Stop blaming entire groups for the actions of a few members.

No I understand. You can dismiss the assertion that Thor is real by being undecided on the issue, which is the only nonfaith based conclusion. The lack of evidence is the whole point. You have exactly as much evidence of thors existence as you do his nonexistance. So if you assert he exists or not then that is faith, if you assert you don't have enough evidence to decide either way then that is science.

Since you claimed you have no reason to believe god doesn't exist, or exist, then you are undecided and thus by definition agnostic.

Unpopular opinion: You should have the same right to shoot a cop as you do an ordinary citizen should they illegally threaten your life.

Just submitted my first W3C proposed standard to W3C for consideration. I am not allowed to say what it is per W3C rules, but wow its super exciting!

We have been very overloaded because despite receiving a few million in funding, which includes QOTO it also includes quite a few other things. We have spent most of the year highering and ramping up and frankly it took a lot longer to ramp up than I expected.

As of right now we have one guy looking into a few fixes so we may have a few more things fixed soon. If you want let me know and ill give you the link to the matrix room where you can talk to the developers and system admin.

I also hired 2 new developers with a cross over to system admin, so once we get them signed up we should have a bit more bandwidth to tackle what few issues we have left.

Trumps thoughts right now: "The United States of Europe" has a nice ring to it.

Remember all those times over the last 4 years that Harris proposed bills to protect abortion? Yea neither do I.

I've finally set up bridging of my Mastodon account to Bluesky through fed.brid.gy/

Highly recommend to bridge as well so we can break the silos a bit and 1) follow each other's content and 2) have interactions visible in each other's platforms

@freemo you know, I got a nice anecdote on that. In the middle of the ongoing harassment campaign, when we were at the height of throwing statements at me day and night that were clearly intended as attacks and (false) accusations, there was the occasional disconnected comment.
More than once have I seen statements like "you know, that's just someone being kind", which was interpreted as manipulation of some kind or another. So, no, even just being kind isn't acceptable anymore.

Just a reminder, under Trump spending on the genocide against the Palestinian people went from 4.7 b at the end of Obama/begining of Trump's time in office, down to 4.3b byt he end (just military support for israel not humanitarian aide).

Under Biden Harris it went the opposite direction, from a spending of 4.3b at the start to a whopping 12.5b in support of the genocide in 2024.

I cant say I'm happy with Trump winning, but at least I can say the palestinians might be better off. All I know is this is why Harris, more than anything else, was never going to see my vote.

As expected I'm both proud of america for seeing Harris for who she is and not voting for her but likewise disapointed to see Trump get support. Still gullible buying the two party myth.

Well 4 years of trump, back to riots I guess.

@rchusid

Its worse than that, though those points are true. Harris has a history of actively promoting hate against trans people, specifically her spearheading the SESTA act which explicitly denies access to hormones to any trans people under arrest. She and Trump never had any business being leaders to begin with. Third party was **always** the only real ethical choice this election.

Between Trump's treatment of women and insults to other groups, and Harris' unwillingness to separate herself from Biden's policies (including genocide), it continues to feel like both candidates are trying to lose.
