Hi, this is my looking for work post. I'm based in Stockholm, Sweden, and could work remotely.

I have a Swedish teaching certification for ages 10-18 in social sciences and history. I also have a masters in communication, with focus on social media. I have 14 years as a news reporter and producer at Swedish public radio.

I also do editing, Swedish-English translation, and I've worked in libraries and as a researcher.

Because of the unemployment money I currently get, I can't work freelance.

PLEASE sign and share this, a petition against job cuts at Birkbeck, University of London. This concerns the closing of the #philosophy department there as well.

And for the longer run, Malka Older @older suggests in the short #scifi story popsci.com/technology/shared-d "Shared Data" that crowdsourced data #cooperatives could help people make better decisions in the midst of disaster.

“there’s official information, but it’s never enough. And there are rumors, but you can’t trust them. This is almost like…in between.”

Getting hands dirty is a good thing when you are working *WITH* THE EARTH'S SOIL & PLANETARY CULTURE.

Blind Technologists can't see how industry influences, shapes and controls our life and logic...

Blind Technologists can't see how industry influences and shapes our life abd sets a lor of our logic (even if we didn't believe in it- we are forced naturally and by man made deliberate-design).

As much the technology itself, the logic is mostly the will of the industry's business of profit first and foremost.

People into technology (excited by Tech) often forget there are basically people behind it and they are often very uncaring.
(Steve Jobs testimonies and just lots of CEO examples...)

So while we could entertain for a moment profit "needs to exists", after that split-second, you might actually see that without them caring you can see how it becomes self-serving for industry MORE THAN what's possible (let's say nearly-free energy or methods were discovered - they surely wouldn't call it a day to close their business? They might make a half-assed version like a lot of things today)

Ask yourself: How blind am I that Tech isn't also influenced by others / politics in almost the same degree, if not worse?

Boss made a dollar
| made a dime
That was a poem
From a simpler time.

Now boss makes a thousand And gives us a cent
While he's got employees Who can't pay the rent.

So when boss makes a million And the workers make jack That's when we strike
And take our lives back.

“It is amazing that anyone ever came to listen to the teachings of Gautama Buddha, because from the start he declared that nobody can really save you. His central message was that you must free yourself. What he taught is counterintuitive to ego’s desire for security. While taking refuge is a central aspect of #Buddhism, it does not represent a personal savior outside of yourself—quite the opposite. It is a declaration to completely change your way of life through your own effort.”

Have you ever wondered how likely it is that, making random knight's moves, you'll make it to all the squares on a chessboard without going on any of them more than once? No?

Well, @sam_hartburn did...and wrote a song about it.

Content is corporate.

Don't be corporate.

The only way left to combat the algorithms is being aggressively human.

@jmccyoung @ai6yr It always seemed odd to me, how people say “Well, the lottery prize is up to umpty-gazillion dollars this week, guess I’d better buy a ticket” (as if it’d be financially irresponsible not to).
Why would you want to buy your lottery ticket right when everyone else is buying lottery tickets? Wouldn’t you want to buy your tickets when the prize is low & the selection pool is smaller; and your odds of winning are (infinitesimally) better?

I lost my earbuds and I'm reading reviews for the few usb-c ones that exist and they all start with like "people usually only buy wired earbuds if they are forced to nowadays because even though they are cheap, have no latency, don't have the lower bitrate artifacts from Bluetooth audio, and don't need to be charged, they have freaking wires which SUCK"

Transforming data from one format to another is perhaps the least methodologically interesting thing you can do with a computer, but it’s by far the most sociologically impactful.

I'm excited for the next major release of Mastodon (4.2) that's coming soon. Half a year of UX improvements (that of course mastodon.social users are already benefiting from). More details to follow.
