Lions have an excellent vision and can see clearly up to eight times as far as humans can with details. They can easily spot and focus their prey at a distance of more than two miles.

Three “super-tipping points” for climate action could trigger a cascade of decarbonisation across the global economy, according to a report.
Relatively small policy interventions on electric cars, plant-based alternatives to meat and green fertilisers would lead to unstoppable growth in those sectors, the experts said.

Just had my first ever first-author paper accepted by Analytical Chemistry! Only 6 days before my PhD viva but it should stand me in good stead for the defence 😃 #NMRchat #metabolomics #chemiverse #chemtoots
It has been repeated many times, but the idea that cis het men would go to any bother whatsoever pretending to be trans women in order to sexually assault someone when they do so all the time already and are rarely and barely punished for it is patently absurd, and yet we are constantly forced to address this nonexistent, made-up problem by people who just want trans people to disappear and die.
If you're concerned about cis teens transitioning by mistake, well, don't, it's vanishingly rare, and the solution isn't loading teens up with even more hang-ups and anxieties about their appearance, behavior, interests, and sexuality by straightjacketing them with "traditional" gender norms or hiding information from them or refusing them access to care, putting them through an ordeal just to obtain advice and answers to very basic questions.
Good decisions don't happen under duress.
Let’s be REALLY clear: I’m not a “bike advocate.” I’m an experienced, knowledgeable, evidence-driven city-building practicianer, and a relentless champion of smart urban public policy, and better, more successful cities. Over 30+ years I have worked with some of the most innovative cities in the world. THAT’s why I support doing everything we can to make bikes as attractive an option as possible for ordinary transportation in cities.
It’s smart city-building.
Ontario looking to poach healthcare workers from other provinces to fill shortages
🔼🔼 This is how it should be framed. Not a coincidence this announcement happened same week as expansion of for-profit surgery centres & fears abt poaching of hospital staff for new for-profit centres.
"..Doug Ford is set to introduce changes that would let Canadian health-care workers registered or licensed in other provinces start immediately practicing in Ontario."
#today I’m excited to see the final #WOTUS rule is up and #SignificantNexus is in!! This is important for #wetland #conservation. Credit due the important work on Geographically Isolated #Wetlands and their tremendous value for #WaterQuality (lots of #canadians were involved in that too!). I’m not #American, but when you lie down next to an elephant 🐘 something, something.

#today I went to do this “I’m a _____ in a film…” trend.
Started out:
“I’m an #ecologist in a film. I’m wearing a vest with lots of pockets and a shapeless hat. I’m warning the world about an urgent crisis that no one takes seriously. “
But I gave up because it was #tooReal to be #funny. 🤷🏻♀️
Review article on long covid, really good (I’ve read about 60% of it so far)
Nothing about what we know so far makes me think masking is unnecessary or over-cautious.
I live my life without fear, masking in all shared indoor spaces. I’d like to be able to do more—but I wish more people understood that masks don’t have to be a reminder to be afraid.
Masks can be the opposite: the reason we don’t need to worry. That’s what it is for me.
If you suffer from anxiety/depression and enjoy the outdoors, I highly recommend taking up #birding it’s a world that is right in front of you that generally goes unnoticed. @girls_can @ontariogreens @academicchatter @ecology absolutely 😕 I was ALSO very stoked you were meeting about wetlands! It just feels like so many photos and meetings are mask less, it's nice to see when folks "get it".
