Also, that a lot of people who CAN risk arrest are not yet doing so - and if they did I think it would be huge. In general, we need a lot more climate activism of all kinds, but too much climate activism (like petitions) is too polite and as a result probably not very effective

When billions of lives are at stake, including the lives of people we love or even our own lives, then yes, risking arrest to try to stop that through nonviolent civil disobedience is probably "worth it" for a lot of us.

It has been repeated many times, but the idea that cis het men would go to any bother whatsoever pretending to be trans women in order to sexually assault someone when they do so all the time already and are rarely and barely punished for it is patently absurd, and yet we are constantly forced to address this nonexistent, made-up problem by people who just want trans people to disappear and die.

If you're concerned about cis teens transitioning by mistake, well, don't, it's vanishingly rare, and the solution isn't loading teens up with even more hang-ups and anxieties about their appearance, behavior, interests, and sexuality by straightjacketing them with "traditional" gender norms or hiding information from them or refusing them access to care, putting them through an ordeal just to obtain advice and answers to very basic questions.

Good decisions don't happen under duress.

On my way to Berlin's criminal court to support - as an expert on the climate crisis - the defense of an activist who disrupted traffic. Whether the judge will allow it remains to be seen. I'd testify why, on a factual basis, the climate problem is now a climate emergency.

Nothing about what we know so far makes me think masking is unnecessary or over-cautious.

I live my life without fear, masking in all shared indoor spaces. I’d like to be able to do more—but I wish more people understood that masks don’t have to be a reminder to be afraid.

Masks can be the opposite: the reason we don’t need to worry. That’s what it is for me.
