@freemo @neverfadingwood @Surasanji I know how you mean this, and I'm sure you're right... but that's still how this all starts.

@freemo @neverfadingwood @Surasanji Reconfiguring the way they get their income, that's understandable. "Sterilising" them, though? Have you...learned history?

@freemo @snder Yeah I don't mind a parody account, but I feel badly for people who think this is real, especially because of the birdsite-like verification checkmark.

@snder @freemo There's no rule about impersonating public figures?

@Stephen_Stone I like this partially, but would take it one step further and suggest you read new stories of people from other countries or of different races than you. Also, I'll never give up my b+w movie binging.

@Surasanji A lot of therapists provide Skype sessions nowadays. I know there is a startup in NYC that is facilitating this, but you can also get this through Teledoc.

tech nonsense, reddit

@ellied I hear you, but I think that's oversimplification. How many people are software engineers? We help employ them. And they aren't going to sit around and do bug fixes on old systems...that's boring as hell. Also, we are still in computing infancy. Imagine what progress we'd stall if we just decided to keep our current computers.

I know it's annoying, and expensive, to upgrade, but I sure wouldn't want AOL running on my old Dell computer from 2000 these days...

@cambridgeport90 I'm not a fan of Columbus Day, but I used to intern at the Old State House...aww

@RolandDeschaine I used to have a slight Philadelphia-area accent, but I was embarrassed about it when I went to college in Boston and learned the standard US accent

@SecondJon The book is great too. I don’t think people realize it’s more about being a child and having a weird neighbor than the trial.

@freemo And we appreciate your openness, support, and good vibes 💕

Kavanaugh & SCOTUS decorum

@freemo That is a larger discussion that can certainly be complicated. But SCOTUS judges are supposed to have squeaky-clean records. Even if you allow them some transgressions, what I'm pointing out specifically is how Kavanaugh has reacted, in public, under pressure. People have pointed out Clarence Thomas was a cool as a cucumber during the Anita Hill hearing...

Kavanaugh & SCOTUS decorum

@freemo Oh I agree with you that everyone should be able to be free to be themselves in their private life (and here's hoping that their true character isn't shit).

But once you're in government, you're representing your government and your role as soon as you agree to an interview on a major news network or in a Senate hearing.

If you were in a job interview, you'd be expected to behave as you would at work, not at home with a beer.

@Surasanji Smart aleck...what are you reading in your spare time? :)

@probgoblin Not the audiophiles I know...they're the ones who insisted I protected my ears when at concerts, etc.

diversity (in tech)

@SecondJon Right. I agree with you that diversity doesn't just mean looking different (assuming you mean race and not just different haircuts.) I don't have the energy to unpack what else you're saying.

@ceakins Oh that's true, you wouldn't know that I like people with opposing views. I originally meant to say I don't want my grandma over here, etc. I like her, but she wouldn't be fun to have on a different platform.

@ceakins I do want people to come over here, but only the people I like
