#physics #weather #canada **Canada gets cold blobs** These are now following last year's pattern. Progressively colder blobs coming down on us. They sweep the US, as well. The mimic gif shows the speed, and the static minimum temps show the severity.
I'm just sticking to Canada right now, Europe can have the influencers. :)

**Madonna tickets at $6K** The normal routine is to set a 'social' price of 20 bucks, then rig the system so that 'certified resellers' get them all. For these guys, like TS, they should just set all prices at $6000 each, then cut the prices every day. You wouldn't destroy the Internet that way. :) I'm glad I'm too old for concerts, although if the real 'skinny Elvis' showed up, I might be tempted.

#physics #weather **La Nina Forever** I think someone tried to stop the tides once. It didn't work out for him. The first picture is the usual fluff. The second is the ocean temps that haven't changed for a year. The third is the latest ocean current gif, which hasn't changed for a year. Someday, the influencers may 'ghost' this whole La Nina thing, and the poor Australians will be sucker-punched. :)

#physics #weather **Siberian air finally hits Europe** That cold air has been stopped many times by ocean plumes. Also, most of the plumes have been stopped in the Arctic, except for one from Siberia, which is pushing a cold-air blob to Toronto. Once all the plumes have stopped, it looks like the Arctic cool pool will start filling up again.

Now it is empty, and all the plumes are coming in. We don't know if it will start the filling process again.

#physics **Poop Cabbage** Physics tells us that the root membranes are effectively 'Reverse Osmosis Filters' Nothing gets by them. At our cottage (summer hut) we have a compost toilet and all the compost goes to growing 'Poop Potatoes'. I have this huge thermal compost bin in the back and it's hot even in the winter. I put all the dog poop in it. However, I also put in Miraclegro for the nitrogen. The physics error in the article is that there is not enough natural fixed nitrogen in the world to feed us.

#physics #weather **Calicanes are in stealth mode** On the standard satellite shot, these look like atmospheric rivers, not Atlantic hurricanes. That's because they are 'cold-driven' and do not exist in the standard vocabulary. I am amazed.

**Consumer Tip** On the light side, I got a Chinese-style hot pot for our upcoming 20 below weather. The combination on ammie cost less than a car. That's both a pot with a cast divider, and a small induction hot plate. **This is good physics**
The pot has an iron plate buried within, and all the heat is generated within the pot by magnetic induction. This leaves the burner free to measure temperature. You set the temperature at boiling and it maintains a perfect low rolling boil. I just cooked pasta on it with another pot. Anything made within the last 10 years will work, but the 30 year old pots need a check with a magnet. No stickee, no heatee.
Anyway, I am notorious for putting the pot on full heat and walking away. It always explodes. You set this to 212F and walk away. It comes to, and stays at a perfect boil. You put in the spag and walk away, and check it later. No explosions! I'm happy.

#physics #weather **Polar vortex in the news again** If we put this in terms of a SciMeth hypothesis then: The Polar Vortex, as defined only in the stratosphere, can drive weather on the surface. Again, this is ridiculous and breaks all the laws of physics. However, it makes good press. The stratosphere is effectively vacuum, and the air particles have very high velocity, but almost no energy. Like the sparks coming off a fireworks sparkler. 1000 degrees, but it won't burn you.
