#physics #weather **Ottawa ice used as climate defence**
Everybody in Canada loves the mild winter. The physics is that extreme cold spilling out of the Arctic has created and pushed down Pacific storms, giving us that nice, dry Pacific air. In Huntsville, there are no snowmobiles on the ice.
*That view was echoed by Canada’s environment minister, Steven Guilbeault, who said Tuesday, “This is yet another example of how our climate is changing in Canada.”*
#physics #earthquake **PGV from Turkey** My contention with convention is that PGV has all the importance with respect to damage. You can see incredible PGV at quite a distance. The only way you can survive this is a stiff building with deep helical piles. Convention would state the use of flexible structures.
#physics #weather **Pacific Cold Phase** The influencers without physics, have the cold ending 'any day now'. You can see their forecast zooming up. NZ and Australia can put away their sandbags. Good times are back again! Tourists will come!
That's their hypothesis, and they'll never call it that. To cast a hypothesis means you can live with failure, and these people can't. My hypothesis has the cold phase going on for at least 20 years. When will they throw in the towel? Maybe never.
**cheap phone** Just got this. Wife plays these phone games and required one old phone to do 'housekeeping'. She burned out all my old phones. Got this.
I am amazed that it is as good as my Pixel 4, and her S20. The buttons don't fall out! Nice screen for the games. Nice photos. I can't find a thing wrong yet. Maybe it turns into a spy balloon?
#physics #earthquake **Turkey looks stable** Minor aftershocks. They are clearing the rubble, and will rebuild. I hope they invest in real concrete and deep helical piles. You can only build in the flats, and that amplified 10 to 100 times. You need piles and very stiff buildings.
Descended from Unix freaks, I evolved to Linux. Some people might consider me old at 60+, but I'm suing the world to get my age down to 30.
I have a blog https://ontario-geofish.blogspot.com/
and it is read by 8 people. My formal education is in an extinct branch of science called geophysics. Since there was no money in it, I went to engineering. I've done tunnels, radwaste thingies, etc.
