#physics **Pumped Storage** It's hilarious, but we are awash in electricity at night. That's from the nuclear plants. If anybody figured out a good storage system (think freezing!) then no need for solar, etc.

#physics **However, the continental ice is building** There's no physics here. A healthy glacier spouts out ice. The volume decreases during a surge, and increases during a 'pause'. However, the influencers don't do physics, which is fine. Looking at the temperature chart, Antarctica is flat as a pancake.

#physics #weather **Arctic air building up** Nothing much in NA right now, but we are looking for the headpond to build up. This would be a large amount of very cold, clear air, forming a cold lock, like a glacier. A chart of potential energy would show a build-up, then a release all over us. During the last warm cycle, the plumes would have ensured this didn't happen. Another Texas Popsicle within a week, or a UK chill.

#physics #weather **Two types of computer modelling** One, favoured by the influencers uses no physics, and is a pattern extrapolation. To get the last warm cycle, they had to input a 'temperature riser' to match the, then current, rising temps. The other type is 'game physics' or modelling using first principles. I prefer the latter, but there is no funding to get it right. I read a paper that did prime ocean modelling. They said that every hot and cold cycle in the past could be explained by ocean currents, but they didn't run the current cycle because that was obviously carbon I hope they survived.

#physics Ontario gets silly again about energy. I did all the preliminary geotech studies of the new Niagara Tunnel. It would only work if we expanded the pumped storage. I left that division, and the gov't forced them to build the tunnel -- 'Worth it at any price.' they said. The tunnel cost 2 billion and was never used, because of the fact they couldn't expand the pumped storage, as I had said. The walls were dirt, and already had failures. Now, we go into buying all the lithium in China. If we accelerate the demise of Climate Change, then natural gas is the physics solution. But, physics is a fiction. :(

#physics #weather Heavy rain right after freeze. This is the Toronto forecast. We are maximum frost depth now, maybe. I had to take in my water jugs in the garage. My microgreens have stopped growing, with heat. We are talking about record flooding, maybe. If you want to get absurdly complex then this is all due to a dancing jet stream, which has no physics. If you want The Razor, then it's ocean currents.

#physics #weather Strong Pacific Plume gives us a thaw. Mimic has had trouble for months, so I can't see new cold air blobs coming, but you can see a very unusual Pacific plume coming over the mountains.
