**New earthquakes extending down to the sea** There is too much stress at that lower end. It should do something.

**Two branches to continental earthquake** I'm expecting a third, like New Madrid, but we can live with just two. It's an amazing pattern, with both mechanisms the same. The whole area has been wrenched apart, and we await the gps and strong ground motions to see the mechanism. Usually, the existing topography will be reinforced. The lows lower and highs higher.

**acceleration** At about .6g. I consider this to be not as important as the pgv. Earthquake design uses accel which is long and wobbly, thus they design for resonance. The velocity is a big nasty pulse, and more accurately relates to the base shear.

**Turkey strong ground motion** I'm having a tough time figuring this out, but this is PGV in the basin that dropped. A pulse of 120 cm/s is about as strong as you can get and no structure can stand against it.

**Aftershocks** These aftershocks define the fault zone. There was only one big quake, and the second was an M6. You need more strong ground motion sensors to define the mechanics.

**The two nearly identical earthquakes looks to have a mechanism of first, one side dropping, and then the other.

**Expanding basin** The whole place is a hot zone for earthquakes.

**Full wind channel through Bering Str.** This pattern is now identical to the previous series of storms for California.

**Spy balloon does what nasa should do** This whole thing has gone social-ballistic. To splash the cold water of physics, you know how chaotic the winds have been lately, so nobody could have planned the course of the balloon.

**Wind as a snowplow**
Just noticed this interesting bit of physics. When a very strong Pacific push comes in, it reverses the cold air like a snowplow barreling down the highway.
Also, the reason I didn't see it coming is that the sat. wind chart doesn't work over the mountains. The mimic shows it better this time, but I use both for confirmation.

**Notes of the Ice Cycle** It's physics against nice stories of Polar Vortex Fairies, and the Dancing Jet Stream.

**Pacific air pushes out NA cold** Physics weather is a simple balance of forces.

**Window Weather** Looking out the front window, I see branches flying, and high winds are driving the snow. That front, from the Callie storms is coming in at an incredible speed.

**West Coast storms move away central cold** I didn't realize how violent this weather was. From not seeing it this morning, the California storms are now giving back our mild January weather.

**nasa dogma comes back to bite it** There was a time when nasa was at a low point. They put up the first satellite to measure ozone, and with no history whatsoever, they said it would all kill us. Yeah, lots of money for them!
Then they put up the last atmospheric physics plane and found a chlorine molecule. Yeah -- correlation! Then, on a napkin someone wrote a formula that freon would release a chlorine atom and eat ozone. Yeah, napkin physics!
Now, the whole ozone thing might reduce rocket launches. Yeah -- karma! :)
The last atmospheric physics lab in nasa put out a paper that the reaction was physically impossible at -100C. Yeah, burn those witches!

**China studying clear-air convection** Wouldn't that be hilarious that they're doing the necessary physics to look at these cold spells? You won't see any physics from nasa...
