#AI tools aren't predatory. The people making them aren't specifically out to end #artists' jobs. The people using tools to generate goofy AI profile photos for a social media post were never going to pay an artist for a one-off social media post of the process in the first place.

ATTENTION EVERYONE WRINGING THEIR HANDS OVER “#MASTODON ADMINS CAN READ MY DIRECT MESSAGES”: #SysAdmins have *always* been able to read your #email and DMs unless encrypted, including at the big #SocialNetworks and Internet providers. We used to have t-shirts that said, “I READ YOUR EMAIL.”

It’s just hitting now because you got used to places where the admins were kept away in their cubicles and data centers instead of greeting you at the front door.

As a general rule, when you criticize the terminology used by someone, it is your responsibility to provide better terminology. Examples:
"[system] is not a platform, it is a ___".
"[word] is not a slur, it is a ___"
It's fine to argue that a word is being used too broadly, but you can't simply insist that people abandon having any word for the concept they are talking about.
