I just realised that Mastodon's behaviour towards other Fediverse options resembles that of colonisers over aboriginal people. They try to suppress those who came before by painting them as savage and backwards, and eliminating those who fight against their rule.

@matt I'm perfectly fine with Gargron making money off of Mastodon, but he should stop running it like a business, acting like everybody else is their competition. It's called the Fediverse for a reason.

One example: I read earlier today that he was considering implementing quote-posts. Problem is, there are already QP in the Fediverse, just not in Mastodon. That means there is already a standard, set by Misskey and adopted by everyone else except him. Do you think most people even know that? Of course not. For them, everything that's not Mastodon is Mordor. And do you think Gargron will implement QPs is a compatible way? Of course not. He will use his “market share” to say: “I don't have to listen to anybody else. This is, after all, _the Mastodon Network_.”

The Fediverse exists and thrives because of its diversity, but he just strives for uniformity. And don't be mistaken, he's been like that from the start. This behaviour is not new at all.

Siempre me ha fascinado la expresión: “Fulanito me puede hacer a mí dos pajas”, que quiere decir que lo que haga o diga el tal Fulanito me trae sin cuidado. Digo que siempre me ha fascinado porque yo a alguien a quien desprecio no le dejaría hacerme una paja, mucho menos dos.

La expresión también es interesante por sus variantes: “Fulanito me puede hacer dos pajas: una con la mano y la otra con el culo”. (Si quieres completar el combo, puedes decir “tres pajas”, pero ahí ya la frase se alarga y pierde fuerza en mi opinión), “Fulanito puede comerme la polla [o todo lo gordo, o el medio kilo. Las posibilidades son ilimitadas. Deja la tuya en los comentarios]” o la intemporal: “Tú y tu puta madre me podéis comer los güevos por debajo”.

También está la muy popular en el ejército: “Me vas a hacer una paja por tiempos: ¡tiempo uno! [y te bajas la cremallera del pantalón], ¡tiempo dos!”, etc.

En fin, eso es todo por hoy. No olvidéis suscribiros, dadle like si os ha gustado y quizá vuelva con una secuela sobre los cojones del caballo de Espartero y otras figuras históricas.

@matt You ensure Mastodon makes the right moves by not singling it out. Making Mastodon the flagship of the Fediverse stifles innovation and suppresses diversity. Mastodon is the MS Windows of the Fediverse, and just as dangerous.

@palangano_media Eso sólo lo puedes saber tú. Si te ves capaz de construir una comunidad a la que tu podcast le resulte interesante y con la que puedas compartir ideas, pues sí, es interesante. Si vienes sólo a hablar de tu libro, pues para eso todos tenemos lectores de RSS y no nos hace falta seguirte.

En el primer caso, si tu audiencia no es aún muy grande, a lo mejor te sale a cuenta usar las herramientas del Fediverso para difundir tus proyectos. Hablo concretamente de Funkwhale y PeerTube.

I just ran a program twice for testing and both executions took exactly the same time to so many decimals that I don't even know how that minuscule division is called. $10^{-19}$ of a second, I think?

The third time took a little less, which left me even more amazed by what I had just witnessed.

Also, I'm happy because in all three tests the program was really fast.

Por cierto, que si podéis ayudar a mi amigo, os lo agradecería. Yo es que tengo el problema de que soy un analfabeto funcional y no puedo.

@estrellascompartidas No me hagas ni caso, porque yo de geometría y trigonometría, poco; pero lo que haría es medir el ángulo a lo largo de varios días, extraer la variación diaria y tratar de predecir en qué día no se generará sombra. Y medir el otro ángulo en ese mismo día (o sacarlo de la misma forma). Seguro que los matemáticos tienen una palabra para eso, pero la verdad es que yo no.

No sé si lo que he dicho tiene sentido. Sólo espero que no te confunda. Por cierto, voy a poner unos hashtags, ya que estoy.
