"The first drug to slow the destruction of the brain in Alzheimer's has been heralded as momentous and historic.
The research breakthrough ends decades of failure and shows a new era of drugs to treat Alzheimer's - the most common form of dementia - is possible.
Yet the medicine, lecanemab, has only a small effect and its impact on people's daily lives is debated.
And the drug works in the early stages of the disease, so most would miss out without a revolution in spotting it."
That’s right, it’s #SpaceTalkTuesday time! This week it’s all about ~exoplanetary habitability~
What does habitability really mean? Do we know of any habitable #exoplanets? How will we be able to study them now and in the future?
Follow along for answers to these #science questions and more!
(fair warning, this will be a long thread. the threaded posts are unlisted as a best practice, but you can still boost them)
All the different instruments have their own "unique" "issues" that we have to deal with, but that doesn't mean they're not useful! The entire reason my job exists is to learn how to get the most out of this data that we possibly can.
Different instruments/modes on JWST all have different specialities, generally being different colors of light or different resolutions

@peterwhisker yes, finally got around to testing this in a web browser. Even setting my mobile browser to desktop mode didn't help. But navigating to https://qoto.org/relationships works, even on mobile.
Where do I find the subscription functionality here on qoto.org? I've yet to find any other subscriptions I've read about domain and keyword subscriptions on "About this server", and I'm interested in both.
Domain Subscriptions - Bring another instance's local timeline as a feed in Qoto, no need to have an account on another server again, just import their timeline here!
Keyword Subscriptions - Create custom timelines based off keywords not just hashtags, you can even use regex for advanced matching
I do not like that site of birds
I do not like its awful words
I do not like what it became
I do not like its cult of shame
I do not like intrusive ads
I do not like the vapid fads
I do not like the clout it’s given
I do not like its algorithm
But I shall miss that weird bird town
I do not like it burning down
Hmm, qoto.org is running mastodon v3.2.1. Hasn't it been upgraded after October 2020? It's good to see that earlier releases are stable, but surely there have been some security fixes in addition to new functionality and other bug fixes? https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/releases/tag/v3.2.1
v7 of the microscope is now in Beta.

This is like measuring a hospital's effectiveness by adding up how many bandages they use, rather than how many people they cure.
The metric should be reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Nothing else.
@siljelb mens "røykskatt" oversettes til "smoking tax". Hehe, her var de forvirret.
@siljelb jøss, det burde vel isåfall bli "grouse tax"? Røy != smoke...
@Tibor thanks!
@hal_pomeranz @oliverwiegers you can support temporary changes by using xmount --cache or something similar . Xmount is nice because you can work directly with a virtual disk image when your image is E01.
https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/man1/xmount.1.html
You can also work in a vm. Make a simple vmdk or other disk format pointing to the forensic image and add it to your vm, then make a snapshot - this should have the same effect. You should of course have other measures in place to avoid writing to the forensic image.
@Tibor hmm, looks like it's working for everyone else, and first step (twitter login) works fine, but second step: login with mastodon doesn't work for me. I've entered my mastodon domain qoto.org, clicked Login, and nothing happens. I've tried several times.

@Somekindofgarf haha, yeah I don't even know all the 2-look oll or pll. I have some slower strategies for the algs I don't know, and I can go faster when I get lucky. 🙂
