I saw a post on Reddit about how to cancel an Adobe subscription without the asshole "early cancellation fee" and figured it's worth sharing:
1. Login to your adobe account
2. Go to plans and payments
3. Find your current plan and select "Manage Plan"
4. The third box on the right should say "Cancel Plan"
5. It will ask you why, tell them "Go fuck yourself" and press continue
6. It will offer you to change plans, select "Photography plan (20GB)" - $9.99
7. Confirm the change
8. Now go back to your Plans and it may say "You'll be able to manage this plan shortly" and that's because there is a waiting period after starting a plan, probably to ensure you forget to cancel or something. Took about an hour for it to go away, so if it's there just walk away and refresh the page every 15 minutes or so.
9. Once you are able to manage your plan, repeat steps 3, 4, and 5. This time actually cancel the plan. There will be no early cancellation fee AND you'll be refunded the $9.99.
Fuck adobe.
@benbrown this looks awesome. I would love to see the code in Node just out of curiosity to see how the ActivityPub API is called. I remember having a conversation when I’d just joined Masto with someone who wanted to do EXACTLY this. I will try and dig out their handle and send this to them.
I made a three minute little demo video of my fediverse server. If you are interested in what it looks like, check it out here:

This is a stand-alone node app that speaks ActivityPub. It has an ActivityPub API interface, a public profile, and also a browsing interface to interact with people you follow.
I interviewed @evan about creating #ActivityPub, his complicated feelings about Mastodon, and opportunities for #developers in the #fediverse. Needless to say, he has some excellent ideas for the fedi-future, so I do hope you read it. https://thenewstack.io/the-creator-of-activitypub-on-whats-next-for-the-fediverse/
@authorbwest …you write a book in lockdown. It’s your life’s deep insights, multi-disciplinary battles hard won, from a highly skilled and commercially orientated point of view. You plan to sell it for 45 bucks. You discount it to 30 pre-launch. Some people bought it at that. Year later, you discount it to 15. Then “pay what you can afford”. You sit and watch the tumbleweed go past 😂 I’m with you.
“Twitter turns its back on open-source development - ZDNET”
This is going to happen a lot more as tech cos cut back. A lot of OSS exists only as an external result of internal investment. https://www.zdnet.com/article/twitter-turns-its-back-on-open-source-development/
Is something inherent lost *whenever* a #Mastodon #instance goes large?
(The advantages are obvious, but perhaps the disadvantages, though hidden, are just as bad.)
At what size does #MastoAdmin inevitably become corporate in character, despite all intentions?
Should there be deliberate intentional deconstruction into smaller instances at some point, and explicitly planned?
#UFoI-adjacent issue.
@freemo @m1k3 If the logo is still an issue, I had one comment on skanman's previous good work. Love the intersecting globes/circles, I think this really conveys what is going on/the nature of federation. But I think the i in UFOI should be lower case, and the O upper: UFOi. This disambiguates the i from a 1 character, buys into the iPhone/iCarly semiology (this may not be a good thing), and presents UFO as a part of the whole, buying into the whole X-Files.Area 51 thing (this also may not be a good thing).
It’s IMDB entry notes *Slumberland* (Francis Lawrence 2022) as, among other things, comedy. That doesn’t sit too easily with me having just about picked myself up off the floor and put myself together again. I haven’t cried so much in ages. Since watching Bridge To Terabithia, that is. This story is told with a similar flair in Magical Realism. Strong ensemble cast led by Jason Momoa, Marlow Barkley and Chris O’Dowd. You can give it a watch on Netflix.

@freemo Thank you. So two projects - Constitution and site. Which to go for? I don't want to wade in to fork anything just yet but areas I could contribute in to the site are global styles using TailwindCSS and CSS Grid Layout. I was just wanting to contribute nominally at first by proofreading.
