"Man is not our Enemy" - a hard phrase to accept

Thich Nhat Hanh composed the phrase “Man is not our Enemy” in his 1966 letter to Dr King entitled “In Search of the Enemy of Man”...

“Our enemies are not man”, he wrote, but “intolerance, fanaticism, dictatorship, cupidity, hatred and discrimination which lie within the heart of man. I believe with all my being that the struggle for equality and freedom you lead in Birmingham, Alabama… is not aimed at the whites but only at intolerance, hatred and discrimination. These are real enemies of man — not man himself.
In our unfortunate fatherland we are trying to yield desperately: do not kill man, even in man’s name. Please kill the real enemies of man which are present everywhere, in our very hearts and minds. ”

The above is tough to swallow like how eliminating things can seem right (including people) but a fine-tuning of this means a deeper look at what and where things comes from which is a might longer fix... some would say arguably right to 'kill' in certain ways especially if those people know what they do the same way as they know what we do and try to kill us or make us pay for our peace perpetuating our prison.

A fine-tuning which I will think about.

Rest in peace Thich Nhat Hanh and let us find how to rid / heal ourselves of things in life while still almost paradoxically practising certain rules for which there maybe is only rarely exception but mostly not.

@Moon wow that's like several eth at this point

@mushambo @users I think it's partially what @khird is saying about perceived scammy-ness, partially FOMO-turned-jealousy of people like @freemo who have made an absolute fortune. I also think there are a couple other things going on.

"Right-clickers" -- I see a ton of people on fedi bemoaning the idea of NFTs as a joke because you can "just right click and save as" online images. They normally talk about NFTs as a silly addon layer to PNGs, and also a ploy to squeeze more money out of people online. You'll hear them link NFTs to DRM, copyright, etc. I think these critisisms boil down to a sense that there's an enclosure of the commons underway, with NFTs as the new-fangled vanguard of that movement.

"Electrical conservationists" -- I also see a lot of people on fedi critisizing the massive electricity needs of crypto generally, and NFTs get linked to taht too. I think a lot of anticapitalists tend to fall into this crowd b/c they don't see the need to re-engineer currency (esp with far greater energy consumption.)

I guess you were asking about "old school computer types," and I'm talking about "fedi users in my bubble," but.... that's my two cents :)

Staples Studio is a work of genius by Staples. TL;DR, Staples has a WeWork. I think it's genius because they literally already have oodles of real estate.

In this issue, The Baffler gets extra doomer-y. Stay tuned

@jonw If you have the vast majority of people vaccinated, unless the vaxx gives you 100% immunity, you'll probably have more vaccinated than unvaccinated in the hospital, bit they will make much smaller percentage of their group overall
