For anyone interested, we have a chat room and matrix server for QOTO. Its usually not very active from now until about 10 hours from now, but the rest of the day me and a few people are active there.
Anyway, if anyone wants to join us and get a free account on our matrix server (it federates too so you can talk to and join rooms on other servers) then please do so, you are all welcome.

Just FYI, with the number of followers I have, compared with the huge influx of new users, my feed is EXTREMELY busy.
I am trying very hard to answer every single one of you who message me to chat or ask questions, and please, keep it coming because I love hearing from everyone. But with how fast my feed moves sometimes a few messages slip past me without me seeing or responding.
Please everyone, if I dont respond to you please feel free to give me a gentle reminder and I will, it isnt intention, just hard to keep track of nearly 30K followers.

New user here. Had been considering the change for a while, took the plunge with the rest of the refugees of the #TwitterMigration. Lurked for a few days before posting.
I mostly used the birdsite for learning, #medtwitter was something I think worked rather well.
That said... By comparing with my (admittedly small, but fresh) home feed here at #Mastodon, during these past few days I have come to realize just how much the birdsite's algorithms were keeping me within rather limited boundaries, even if my tastes and interests have always been the same. #Mastodon has been giving me less noise and more content.
I am hopeful that this new experience might expand my cultural horizons through all of your wonderful collective and collaborative input and feedback!

@manjuggm Quite a long read, but it's fairly good. Seems accurate enough to me.
It doesn't take into account that various instances can have modifications. So we have quote-toots on Qoto, but the default Mastodon doesn't have that.
I can see the dunking issue, but since we're a STEM oriented instance, our quote-toot usually is used for displaying other interesting scientific stuff I've noticed.

It looks like different servers have different rules.. Like this one has a bigger character limit for toots, can invite people, there are announcements, a Journal, circles etc..that seems pretty cool!

Twitter has literally saved my life. I have such a great community of pancreatic cancer experts, researchers, doctors, surgeons, pathologists there- allowing me to crowdsource the expertise its taken me to stay alive these 3.5 years. I can't imagine losing this community- and I don't know how to rebuild it here....
