It may well take years to fully understand what is happening right now with social media in general and with the #Twitter->#Mastodon migration in particular. Keep in mind, it is just a single month since Musk took over Twitter. One month. And we are already seeing major effects with a speed that has no equivalent historical precedents on the Internet or even more broadly in technology or society. We are riding the whirlwind and where it will take us in the fullness of time we can only begin to guess for now.

How to Talk About Diversity & Inclusion With People Who Disagree

Ask them to define terms and help you to understand. Communication often fails when participants don’t agree to the definitions of certain terms and end up talking past one another. If you can agree on certain terms at the start of the conversation, you’ve already accomplished common ground and the communication may be more respectful and effective.

As far as Twitter is concerned, I'm not going back until it's cleaned up and the trash taken out. One thing I was taught by my old-school parents is "You are known by the company you keep." Yes, I know this is prejudicial, often unjustified and unfair but it's how life actually works. It's how people think.

If Musk wants to turn Twitter into Parler I won't be there for it.

β€œteachers can be reconfigured by platforms as part of strategies to increase their indispensability. Perrotta et al. (2021, p. 12) argue platforms transform teacher–student practices and relations from β€˜actual teaching’ to facilitating and coordinating the β€˜slotting’ in of automated tasks and modules. β€œeducationdatafutures.digitalfu
