Mastodon server admins right now #twittermigration

Officially erased my bird site presence this morning and with it my associated contacts. I haven't seen a wide-scale migration yet of the #weather / #wxtwitter community, which accounted for half of my Twitter contacts.

As a sort of final #introduction post and calling card for the weather community, one of my primary uses of Twitter was to share my #WeatherPhotography and #storm reports. I'll probably continue to share weather and #climate content here! CW's as needed. Some of my faves below.

#Introduction Hi, new world. I am reintroducing myself because yesterday my account was flooded with posts from bad actors. That's now been fixed by my admin. Used to #code a lot (most notably Barinsta), not so much these days. Interested in way too many fields, eg. #privacy #EthicalTech #PublicTransport , but not proficient in them. Loves #jpop. I see lots of people musing about starting their own smaller instances. Gonna link again the step-by-step beginners guide I wrote for doing just that, Mastodon or Hometown. Mainly because I would love to see a stranger actually try it and get some new small instances on the go! Trying thus out would be a great activity for the upcoming winter break many people have!

Today I said goodbye to Twitter (at least until things... doubtful... improve), and I think #TwitterMigration will increase, so another introduction!

I'm an information science professor who researches #techethics #aiethics #onlinecommunities #hci #cseducation and #fandom (also, at least once, all of those things at the same time!)

I also do a lot of science communication (and occasional silliness) on #TikTok (@professorcasey) and my #YouTube (CaseyFieslerPhD) is full of #gradschool advice!

Mastodon relay functions download all subject matter posts from relay server/instances.

I think the user algorithms add enough general posts.

So, I'm working on adding something that will just grab #Native #NativeMastodon #Indigenous #IndigenousMastodon posts from other selected server/instances.

These posts will import into the Federated timeline for https://Mvskoke.social users.
