@Freyja
> In any case, it is very dangerous for trans people to have their private information (the fact that they are trans and their deadnames are private information according to French law) exposed on the internet.

How is it dangerous? Is it worse than showing someone's date of birth?

@lowqualityfacts it's like that dog Laika that was sent to space to keep company to the astronauts.

@freemo I like them. I have a slight preference for dark text on light background (#2 and #4).

@cryptix @dpiponi oh, I didn't know he gave it a name. "Diataxis" sounds like a neologism for "separation of concerns".

@j2kun @dpiponi sure. Whatever you call it. I think it's important for newbies.

@dpiponi @j2kun I enjoy the video format when I'm not familiar with how things are done in the discipline (how to read [between the lines], how to know something is supposed to be important, when to try things out for myself, ...).

@dragonarchitect interesting. I've been doing surprisingly ok in California with only knowing this incomplete and approximate table:
32°F = 0°C (freezing)
70°F =~ 20°C (human-friendly)
100°F =~ 37°C (body)
(212°F) = 100°C (boiling)
350°F = (175°C) (oven)

The values in parentheses are those I had to look up for this post.

@dpiponi are there different types of "documentation" for math? I've found the division into 4 kinds of documentation for software tremendously useful. I recommend it to everyone who writes software documentation because it makes life easier: documentation.divio.com/

@j_bertolotti @johncarlosbaez "always" is often a good enough approximation of "often" but not always.

@RickiTarr I'm French. It's 60% cultural and 60% personal preferences, with some conflict between the two.

Don't read my toots if you're easily offended. My favorite American comedy is Ghost World (2001).

Audio podcast: Threads/Meta/Facebook/BlueSky conversation...

@freeschool @gabriel thanks for sharing.

It's an interesting topic as I only recently realized the brilliance of the free association between Fediverse servers. I imagine that as big servers join in, they'll get blocked if they don't have good moderation. They tend to have low standards when it comes to advertising and spam, so I expect Threads and other for-profit entities to get blocked by servers populated by people like me. Blocking 99% of the populace who loves their ads will feel elitist and lonely but won't be worse than the current state of affairs.

@freeschool @gabriel this works for me!

@freeschool hitting Play changes the Play symbol into the Pause symbol but the timer stays at 0:00 and no sound comes out.

@freeschool @gabriel same behavior. The download button in the bottom-right corner doesn't work either.
