@dunkelstern Regarding documentation there is this approach https://documentation.divio.com/
In the specific case of NixOS: something was done, but I agree that more must be done.
@freemo nooo, this is the cancel-gun. If you shoot, the target will be fired and excluded from society within few days.There is no armor that can protect the target. The gun can spot a weak point a25 or more years in the past.
the worst of all, it is when you procrastinate, loosing energy while things pile up. Otium is often a smart idea: I solved a lot of problems while walking or cleaning the room.
> ... and the concept that there is no `plasma` meta package or something threw me off,
In reality this is a strength of NixOS: meta packages are not needed, because you enable and configure services directly in the NixOS configuration files. Then the service configuration will install the necessary packages.
Service configurations in NixOS, accept many more options than a simple meta-package.
For example, from the `plasma` service description
you can open the NixOS source code, and see that it will install wayland packages like:
```
kwayland
kwayland-integration
```
and you can see how some things are configured.
I like very much the way one configure NixOS. It is a lot more readable and reproducible than an Ansible file.
@dunkelstern understood.
My workflow is this: I search in the NixOS options https://search.nixos.org/options?channel=23.05; I search in the manual; I search in the NixOS forum; I search in the ArchLinux wiki for discovering the generic concepts of the tool 🙂
NixOS suffers of this problem (and I mainly agree with you): NixOS configurations are on top of upstream packages; NixOS add often another layer, and there is the NixOS way to do things; often you had to understand both the standard way and how NixOS change it. For example I use the Arch Linux Wiki for understanding the standard way to configure things.
In worst case scenario, I inspect the config files generated.If you execute "systemctl status ..." often there is an hint about the config file used from the service.
NixOS is still an OS for hackers and advanced users, and sometime I don't know if the problems it solves are more than the problems it introduces. Especially if you use it for development.
BTW, Wayland appears by default in KDE login menu. IIRC, Wayland does not need a service/servers like X.
@dunkelstern everything can be improved, but the configuration section of NixOS manual seems very similar to what you are asking, to me: https://nixos.org/manual/nixos/stable/index.html#ch-configuration
What am I missing?
BTW: up to date, one of the best documentation examples remain the Arch Linux Wiki.
@UncleDuke1969 this is a very dangerous bro-bear: while you are mocking it, its brother is making fun of you behind your shoulder.
transition timeline
@admin it is a classic Clash dilemma: should... shoulder stay or shoulder go 🙂
> In terms of percentages, based on surveys, 1% to 5% of men cross-dress... thats a significant number.
I worry that plastic chemicals in our blood and especially of the fetus, that acts like female estrogens, are increasing the gender problems in population, mainly males.
There should be more serious studies about this, because now micro-plastic is every where.
I appreciate your tone! Thanks 🙂
I think that it is a rather sensitive subject. We probably only agree if we see some example videos of some "lecture", and then we comment only on them saying: "this is right", "this is weird", "this is dangerous and there is an agenda", etc... i.e. on concrete cases.
Without concrete examples, it is hard to discuss, because the range of things that can go well or bad is too much broad.
BTW, also a bad teacher, in a normal class, can damage a lot the children, despite he/she is not a Drag Queen. So being vigilant is good, but prejudices alone can not save the children.
> I am beginning to suspect you are a LLM
yes, according last messages, it is likely. I hope for him.
This night I made a nightmare: a group of children at "one hour of lecture with @iDoobyLeaves@noagendasocial.com" 🙂

> They're dressed up like psychotic sex freaks you asswipe pedo
In Italy, from 1995 to now, there is Platinette (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauro_Coruzzi), who is a drag queen appearing frequently on TV as host, and conducting his radio programs daily. He is very smart, provocative and sometime fun. He is very famous and well respected. He can do very serious and analytical discussions, or he can surprise you, telling something "out of the box". Probably being a man, with female aspects help him in being original.
All children of Italy of many generations know him, but I can assume that the damage he has done to them are zero.
When he speaks, you listen him, because he has charisma. You never think that he is a "psychotic sex freaks".
@admitsWrongIfProven @freemo @Pat
> People want to compete?
Anyone can practice sport, also transgenders. Anyone can compete, also transgenders.
But a professional athlete is paid also because they are "role-models". For inspiring man and woman. And a man winning against women because he/she is transgender has no "commercial" value IMHO. It is like paying for seeing America's Cup won by a speedboat against sailing ships. Like a man winning because I know he is doped. Ok, the majority of athletes are doped, but at least I can pretend to not know. But a transgenders is for sure "doped" if she competes against other women, because she is not "natural".
> "...books, with a transgender agenda? I don't agree."
I read that in USA someone is considering "Sleeping Beauty" as a case of rape, because the prince kissed the "beauty" without her consent, while she was sleeping. So, with these premises, and without having a clear situation of the campaign (that now I believe/assume is in good faith), I were thinking to a Drag Queen telling about "The Ugly Duckling" in a distort way...
At this point I worry about an Only-fans teacher, telling "Cinderella", explaining to the girls how to become a gold digger, and to the boys about the joy of foot-fetishism 🙂
It is not the exact content of the books, because the majority of tales and children books contain also strange/worrying elements, but it is the way the narrator tells them. As in life.
A masterpiece is "The Crying Game" by Neil Jordan.
> What is a "transgender agenda".
> Do you mean books about the 24th Amendment, or the Preamble to the Constitution, or the introduction to the Declaration of Independence?
No, I mean things like "if you become a woman, you can become a professional female athlete" or "there are no differences in the mind of a man respect the mind of a woman" and other similar crazy things.
> I see no merit in your initial argument of "biological dad trying to remain close" equals pedophilia.
Probably he said that Mrs Doubtfires was about a father loving their children (so a good message), while the "drag queen story hour" has the hidden agenda of "sexualizing innocent children". But after this, I lost the plot, because there were only offenses.
My opinion is that west culture is at risk, because we are exposing our self and our children, through TV, smartphone etc..., to a lot of bad messages and false values. They hope we consume more junk food, we have more promiscuous sex, product consumism, etc... They want us weak. They want us as impulsive shopper.
We are poison our self, permitting to commercial entities to dominate the culture.
So if I'm scared from a drag queen reading a book few times in a year, I should be enormously more scared from all other danger messages in every hour of the day and night. Or I should be scared by a bad permanent teacher.
I assume also that politics want these wars between men and women, transgender activist and traditional value families, etc... because in this way they can follow their important politics, simply differentiating on these "useless" things.
@iDoobyLeaves@noagendasocial.com @freemo
@freemo ok, if the queer are failing with the children, we can go in tour together explaining to the children the hundred occasions when the "portable car toilet" can be useful. The word "poop" cannot fail with the children 🙂
> jesus christ this isnt complicated.
you can always complicate it, creating a post without a link. I don't live in USA, and I cannot read your mind.
Summing up, I'm not scared of anybody interacting with children, if he/she is genuine. The world is made of diversity and the more they see, the better is for their mind/knowledge.
I'm only scared of people with a political agenda, that want to mess with the children.
If queers want to show up to children with their personality, joy and they want to read funny books, I'm happy. In worst case scenario, it is a lot better of many shows on TV with violence and monsters 🙂
If doing so, they implicitly want to reduce the future complications of some child that growing up, discover that he/she has gender/sex "problems", then this is useful.
If their main plan is to instill in children doubts about sex and gender, then I don't agree.
But, I have already said this. Only for being clear.
@freemo so are you speaking about this? https://www.dragstoryhour.org/
Are they reading normal children books? In case I agree. Are they reading "manipulated" books, with a transgender agenda? I don't agree.
@freemo sorry, but I don't believe to this story.
I'm a software developer. I live in Italy.
