@yarmo Good to hear that you are settling. I am sure this will do good to you!
Well, nearly nearly done with the move to a different country. Still setting stuff up. Expect more changes/upgrades.

#Octopuses are considered to be the most intelligent of all invertebrates, and for a good reason! 🐙
Read on to learn some facts about octopuses that will turn them into your favourite animal:

“The Cantonese word for [ non-starch ], sung, 餸, is so pervasive that “the word for ‘grocery shopping’ in Cantonese is mai [sung], or ‘buying sung,’ since the starch is a staple that would already be in the house.”

How are you practicing? I hope there's a Colemak version of "Typing of the Dead", the best video game to learn touch typing.
Very very interesting

Came across a book that teaches science through cooking:
https://wwnorton.com/books/Science-and-Cooking/about-the-book/product-details
Based on a Harvard University and edX course, one can learn about physics and chemistry through recipes. Basically doing science experiments in your own kitchen, and getting rewarded with good food in the end.
Thought it might be a good book for family and kids activities.
@FailForward no problem!
@FailForward I don't think so. The main selling point is really the time and effort spent in designing and prototyping these models. At this moment haven't seen these being sold at different outlet. That said, it is difficult but not impossible to steal the ideas. It is true that once you have the model (digitally) you can feed it into CNC laser cutter and make as many as you like. So I would not be surprise in a couple of years it might caught the eye by some Chinese copycat company which starts churning out them out en masse.
@FailForward Don't know which came first but there's also an Ukraine-based company called Ugears

@Lynx Funding agencies can also nudge the research community towards one direction or the other. I hope the trend of more open science will diminish the methodological and interpretation biases, with raw material, methods and data available for scrutiny. In that case, other researchers will also be able to make their own conclusion based on the actual data.
# Salamander growing from a single cell
> Filmmaker Jan van IJken's Becoming reveals the fascinating genesis of animal life. A single cell is transformed into a complete, complex living organism with a beating heart and running bloodstream. Observe the stages of development that occur within an Alpine newt embryo (Ichthyosaura alpestris) in this fascinating six minute time-lapse captured over a three week period.

Note to self: Threatening to create a poster with purple background with green stuff isn't very effective against young colleagues.
She thought that'd be a grand idea!
Oh geez. ;)
@trinsec
The more shitty it is, the more it is qualified to be called a 'Modern Art'
@trinsec haha, just thought it's impossible to really meet everybody, hence the quote.
@trinsec Thanks~ I'm looking forward to meeting "everyone" here.
@unnnmslymchlmps Interesting thought. The fact that the internet has enabled virtually instant access to information has indeed change how we use our brains. I for instance realized my sense of direction has worsened over the years as I rely more and more on digital maps on a phone.
A possum disguised as a neuroscientist... wait, or the other way round?
