this accountability thing makes sense to me, and you don't need to be a international monopolistic megacorp to be a well known entity that can be held accountable in whatever way (be that law, public opinion or ma darknet homies ddosing your server). there shouldn't be just one Twitter per planet there should be several per country/region, not necessarily dedicated to being a social network company, and there should be drama over who fediblocks who (oh nooo local burger chain defederated from ice cream factory). Also of course including other more boring organizations like governments, universities non profits and stuff.

nooo, it should first ask you to specify what keys you want assigned to numerals temporarily, by pressing them in order. The numerals should be in something like cuneiform, and it should support any base up to 60 (using a timer for base 1 input).

@alex free software movement is not radical, it is simply against proprietary software. This notion of open source somehow being same but more sensible/incremental, while it is actually completely neutral and remains the last line of defense for today's proprietary software monopolies, is the problem. People are saying that open source is freer than free software, calling the latter a radical communist or fascist movement, developers are paranoid about evil gnus forking their(and their only, cause muh intellectual property) projects and infecting it with GPL disease(which is now worse than proprietary somehow), while monopolies continue to dominate markets with proprietary forks.

I was kind of talking about foss in general, and ignoring the context prior to you saying it's about control, to be honest. Security/privacy requires foss but not the other way around.
Using a phone, but not using sms? I don't really see why, other than that it's expensive.

I didn't mean to imply you don't care about foss, I'm just being pedantic regarding the not eating memory condition on proprietary software. I couldn't help it even though it was in parentheses.

Regarding paranoia, even with foss you can't individually audit every piece of software you are using, so you're still mostly trusting it to do its best. The difference is that it's reasonable to trust foss, and it's unreasonable to trust proprietary software. Again you don't need to trust it if you unconditionally don't care what it's doing in a given context. I don't care if sugar and fat is bad for me, I'm still going to stress eat waffles. If someone else does and is on a strict healthy diet, they are not paranoid, they are just a better than me in that particular aspect of life.
