I saw a Microsoft ad earlier for #AI and it showed someone turning five bullet points into a 35-slide presentation.

Why not just present your five bullet points yourself? Nobody wants to look at 35 slides whether a human or computer made them.

City / civilization building games usually start with a land that is empty (or perhaps depopulated by the collapse of what came before).

Are there games where you start with a running (but deeply flawed) society and have to move it utopiaward?

One of the contributing factors in the fall of Count Dracula’s empire was the fighting with stakeholders.

This article on #Workday makes me think that I want not to work for any organization that uses it.

If well-informed self-respecting potential applicants turn away from prospective employers because of such an impediment, might this self-selection also decrease the average *quality* of candidates for those organizations?

If--as an applicant--I happen to see that yellow arch over the W frowning at me, I'll surely know to turn away, not just because I'll know that applying to the organization sucks, but because working for the organization will suck too.

Cory Doctorow ( @pluralistic ) receives a nice mention.

Multiple assignment swapping is handy when implementing sorting algorithms (for teaching purposes) in :

Possible interesting trend...

I am subbing in a high school class that, since it is the last day of school for seniors, has nothing to do. Everyone is on their phones, of course.

But the guys in the class are using their phones to interact...they are showing each other stuff and laughing, etc. The girls are intently staring at their screens thumbing alone.

Not sure what to make of this, but I don't think it can be good.

My friend got a tattoo on his arm that says "comparison is the thief of joy" and I'm really debating getting the same tattoo on my arm but a little bit bigger

Art question:

Some projects in the colored pencil book I'm working through ask for various shades of gray. My 36-color Prismacolor set doesn't have any grays, just black and white. What should I do? Fake it by varying pressure with the black colored pencil or graphite?

It turns out ZZ Top's 1973 song La Grange is not, in fact, about orbital mechanics.
