The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.

That's got to be the most braindead comment I've seen on this platform in a while.

In the midst of my despair, it must be said that Obama and Biden weren't doing shit about climate change either. This doesn't even rise to the level of cold comfort, but it's true.

@kravietz

Are these buffoons under the impression that Russia is in any sense communist? Russian kleptarchy is if anything an absurdist parody of everything the Soviets ever said about capitalism.

It's as if the moment communism collapsed, it immediately rushed to become, not what capitalism actually ever was, but what their propaganda had spent decades saying it was.

@w7voa FCC now scrambling to show loyalty and avoid being dismantled next year.

“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction and the distinction between true and false no longer exist.”

@QOTO @freemo Hi. Any idea of the time frame on resolving the web UI issues? The availability of translate or edit, the profile link? Thanks.

@w7voa Unfortunately Bezos won't even notice the pinch. It's journalism that will suffer. The only solution is don't let oligarchs run newspapers.

@kaminenmosher Maybe he doesn't have a fourth-wall kind of perspective and always mentally registers the presence of the film crew.

@Dingsextrem @anneapplebaum
Sounds like one of those cases where Russia positions convict units behind them, to shoot them if they try to retreat or defect.

The other, even darker, possibility is that's the job Russia is importing the North Koreans to do, against Russian soldiers.

These geese that cross the road in the marked crossings in Cambridgeshire UK...

..remind me of when a few weeks ago, I crossed a busy street in a NW Portland neighborhood, one which had a press-to-activate pedestrian signal. As soon as I started across I realized that a coyote had joined me. Apparently he or she had been lurking nearby waiting for someone to come along and push the button.

@noelreports Most of the military commentary I've read suggests that it's not the right weapon for this war.

@beebrookshire I don't know about you but I'd like to pressure YouTube to stop rewarding the idiot who calls himself "Raccoon Whisperer," because he feeds bulk Costco hotdogs to wild raccoons and posts videos of them climbing all over him for them.

@fulelo They could save about the same amount of money just by letting Laura Kuenssberg go, and news coverage would _improve_.

Amusing that Trump has been talking about 2000% tariffs right about the time it was noticed that he's charging $60 for bibles he's getting from China for $3.

I wonder if whoever did the arithmetic for him also mentioned that it's not a tariff if it goes in the seller's own pocket?

In an ideal world, today's putin would be consistent with his past self.

@rmblaber1956 @BashStKid Still, they should put a teensy nuclear plant inside every windmill, as a backup.
