whenever fse or niu are down this instance is kickin' :ablobcatrainbow:
@tA someone posted about lall's block notification bot and thus recommended to block lall (without contacting nik about it, of course), the rest of mastodon jumped on the "pleroma bad" bandwagon and started inventing things to justify hating on Anime Nazi Pedos(tm), and now the fun is going on at full speed

IMPORTANT:

I just dropped the tick ✅ from my handle here on Mastodon. Here's why...

@realcaseyrollins@civiq.social @realcaseyrollins Yes, it's time consuming and difficult to bulid a totally new idea into a platform - Eugen did really well, but the work is ongoing, continues and he dedicates himself to that full time.

With school and work at the same time, it's hard for you to take on anything like that. But keep the idea and maybe mention it if you find someone who could take it on and succeed.

If you think about creating a personal instance, I would suggest GlitchSoc -- it's the cutting edge of mastodon development and has many nice new features. Like it a lot!

No, not until Opera version 12 or so -- until them, Opera had always been an independant team, pushing the envelop and innovating a lot.

Their browser was wonderful, and a favourite for Power Users at the time. Great customization option, they invented many new things now spread to other browsers, like Mouse Gestures, for example.

Part of the original Opera team left and now run the Vivaldi browser project, where they continue the tradition of catering to power user and customization galore.

Vivaldi is sadly a bit Chromium based too, it's difficult to pursue an independant rendering engine nowadays. Even Microsoft gave up on EdgeHTML, which is a very nice one.

seeing a lot of domainblock-related statuses flying around

thought i'd put my opinion of it into words. imo instance-level domain-blocks are a last resort for instances being run in bad faith. most of the time, you shouldn't have to use them. whilst i see why you'd want to prevent unwanted interactions from reaching your instance, a user-level domain block will usually suffice.

whilst it is true that some instances are home to some monumentally awful people, they're (usually) quite a loud minority. even the infamous kiwifarms is... idk, mostly agreeable enough? most of the time?

i don't think it's worth preventing people on your instance (who are probably important to you) from finding friends in places that you may not personally like frequenting
things ihatebeinga.live has done to get cancelled:
- posting too many cute anime girls
- being far too tame and lacking in drama
- having well-behaved bots that don't follow anyone
- allowing speaking to nice people from wherever they might be
- enforcing a basic and created-and-agreed-on-by-users ToS

truly despicable behaviour, domainblock needed
so i googled it and apparently there are 2 or 3 other instances that announced that they block us based on the same flimsy guilt-by-unwilling-association of "spoke to unsavoury instances at least once"

it upsets me a little, to be lumped in with a group of people that a lot of my recent time has been spent trying to actively combat
but it's sorta... whatever i guess

@FloatingGhost @realcaseyrollins@civiq.social Yeah the SAT is the way to go tbh
