Fediverse posts are chronological, but I think people do prefer algorithms. One solution is a pluggable algorithm system where you can go into your profile and choose your algorithm from a dropdown, or perhaps even code your own and upload it to your profile. All open source, of course.

Screenshot of me running Mastodon Engine within a host app. Basically it's an independent Rails app which has Mastodon Engine as a dependency.

The idea is that instead of forking Mastodon, you can include it as a dependency of a new Rails app and override whatever parts of it you want. When Mastodon gets an update, Mastodon Engine will too, and you can simply bump it up in your Gemfile.

Still very rough around the edges, but this proof of concept works! #MastoDev
