@ambihelical @levisan same here! some guy in central europe who is into gaming and online gambling often uses my main gmail as his address. it's even set as the fallback for if he cant get into his google account!
@levisan yeah, some places are worse than others i'm sure
@levisan yeah, though in reality it could go either way. i take it as a sign i shouldnt be offended if they dont accept my follow, but not that i should avoid even requesting it
@levisan i dunno, i kinda like it when you can see how the local greenery is. ideally you could swap between time of year though, but a lot of places are significantly uglier in winter
@levisan i think a lot of time it's just privacy orientation — someone who wants to feel free to post what they like on the account without mystery strangers following along. (esp if they or someone close to them has been burned by creeps/stalkers before)

@malcolm still find myself defaulting to nvalt if i am trying to make a random note a lot of the time
so wild to me that *cancelling* the figma merger is gonna cost adobe $1B! https://www.techtarget.com/searchcontentmanagement/news/366564138/Abandoning-Figma-merger-will-cost-Adobe-1-billion#:~:text=It%20will%20still%20cost%20Adobe,payment%20clause%2C%20according%20to%20Adobe.
@levisan before watching, i was wondering how they'd make the series have any cohesiveness or character development since it spans centuries pretty quickly, but they did a decent job with that!
@levisan much of the time, it's just careless and disrespectful to the original. wheel of time series for example i just couldn't take. but the changes i'm noticing with this one seem well thought through mostly — the cloned emperors, robot lady, and cryo sleeps for salvor and gaal for example. clever mechanisms to allow characters/actors to continue through different parts of the story without it seeming forced.
@levisan started listening to foundation on audiobook now and am realizing they really did take a ton of liberties! but for the most part i think they made good choices. seems like they’re making the show a bit more raunchy as it goes on though, which is too bad.
@jbwharris i’m seeing widths of 1.65 for a 1995 150 dual cab model and 2m for this larger tricab. current F-150 is just a tad over 2m wide not including mirrors and F-250 is a couple feet wider than that. still a little hard to picture, but seems like these are about 25% narrower than comparable new NA pickups if that helps
@jbwharris oh no, "tri-cab"?? now this is getting ridiculous! though i'm sure it was actually practical for the ski resort that had it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GosQGXm2hE
@jbwharris OK, i've found a "manivan" i'd actually be proud to drive though. 90s toyoaces are wild: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzPi-Y7MZz8

just reflecting on how when i was starting out in visual design, you either had to pay big bucks for software like photoshop or be OK with pirating (and know how/where to get it.)
the fact that today anyone can just use figma for free is such a win for reducing barriers. and this pattern seems to be repeating across domains:
dreamweaver → vs code
maya → blender
excel → sheets
and many more... i'm sure i'm missing some of the best examples. sure, there was some free-to-use software back in the day (props to GIMP et al), but it was generally sub-par or very niche.
not something to take for granted!
@jbwharris yeah, i'm tempted to sell this and import something like a toyota liteace or mazda bongo which have a 3-seater bench in the cab. they're a little bigger so not technically "kei" but still way smaller than NA trucks are. but they're a lot less popular to import, so would be a fair bit harder to get parts for, i think.
