@freeschool yep, chicken wire stapled to frames made from long wood pieces my neighbour had spare. taller because the plants were way too big! the taller one on the left was OK, 90% of the tomato plants fit. but the short ones had kale, lettuce, etc growing wayyy out of the tops. and once theyve grown through the tops you cant really take the lid off easily without pulling out the roots, so makes it hard to maintain. should've made them 2ft higher at least, maybe more.

@freeschool yes, they hold up — this is our third year with them, and got them used off a guy so they've been in the ontario elements at least 6yr now. old standard wooden skids on the bottom, then bracketed/hinged wood rectangles stacked on top (which fold flat if we wanted to store them, though we haven't). bottom was lined with plywood and/or cardboard to keep the dirt from falling through. nothing lining sides though. everything is porous enough for drainage.

last year i made the cages for them and that worked a lot better since the squirrels couldnt eat everything, but i shouldve made them taller!

haha wow — the ivy that covers the wall outside is making its way inside!

@levisan if it's a person walking around as hobbes, it's gotta be the animate hobbes. if its a prop, stuffed

adam w.k. boosted

Dug this up for @sabbatical but everyone needs to see it. Quite possibly the coolest product demo I've ever seen. youtube.com/watch?v=2fQbtp2BgY

(If you're in a hurry, skip to 7:00 with the understanding that he's recorded all of these loops live)

@levisan well you're welcome to borrow mine sometime if you can work out logistics :)

wish i’d gotten a shot of this raven spreading its wings, but it looked like a badass medieval omen up there

HDMI just feels so bad — the cables always feel loose in their ports yet are difficult to get in, as if somethings going to break if i push too hard. and then they flake out, needing a little wiggle or tilt to start working again. icky.

@niclake oh yeah? i’ll have to look that up. messing with it is easy and fun, but getting specific results is harder (playing wise and knowing how to tweak the modelling) so i’m def gonna be looking for technique details.

this guy shows how to reproduce the dune soundtrack so gonna attempt that soon: youtube.com/watch?v=mnb-Ie6-0S

after years of wanting one, bought a used roli seaboard off a local reverb guy, and it is so fun to mess around with!

@levisan the others besides != i’m not even sure i would interpret as ≠

@levisan on mac i just hit option-= to get the real ≠, but if i was writing to coders (or myself about code) i might use !=

can you imagine if notion had a major data loss issue? just had a hiccup where my last month of worklogs weren’t loading on the calendar… and the panic!

maybe i will start to periodically export for peace of mind.

@levisan positive way to frame it for the "old fogies" (which is what i interpreted "mature" meant really, as a polite ephemism)

@NanoRaptor @JennyFluff with time-release, watch out for long term symptoms of sleep deprivation etc. i switched from regular ritalin (which i’d taken for years) to vyvanse + dex a few years back and it was great (much better than rit) for a few months, but then slowly i started getting audio hallucinations + paranoia. thankfully they faded after switching back to “inferior” ritalin!

you guys know brain worms are not particularly rare, right? there’s a non-zero chance you yourself have had one, especially if you ever ate food prepared by ppl who ever go to tropical countries. tapeworm and hookworm are super common culprits, but others too

found an old photo of myself from back when we were recording the false heroics “salvation navy” album. i miss that cardigan!
