@jbwharris nice. my daughter did face-painting at their “super hero day” the other week!
they had some interesting custom delites for it.

@musicman huh, i rarely use or look at hashtags on mastodon. maybe i should. feels weird though. and time-consuming.

@levisan yeah my wife and i were just talking about this earlier tonight — a kid in our city just died of rabies from a bat falling on him during vacation up north. we’ve had bats land on my wife multiple times here at home, never thought to have her get rabies shots since she felt no bites, but neither did that kid!

@schizanon haha that’s hilarious. still feels wrong, but yeah, i’m kinda in the same boat with some of my old projects. and even if you still have access, any old google analytics stats aren’t available to look up anymore! (unless in the small minority that backed the data up to something like bigquery)

@levisan hah. our city is finally getting a costco in november. brantford finally hits the big times! (we were 3rd largest industrial center in canada at one point, behind montreal and toronto)

huh, i've never seen apple use this logo before! weird combo of older styles. rainbow gradient fruit body with an unusually leaf-like leaf, G3 era-ish shine, and a diecut border/shadow. from a marketing email today. anyone else seen it?

are the beer price-cuts related to doug ford's quarter-billion taxdollar giveaway for rushing the whole corner store booze rollout? surprised i'm not finding news articles about this.

Show thread

wow, a lot of prices have plummeted since the last time i visited the beer store. seems like 30-40% price reductions on many of the cans i was looking at — imports, craft, and domestic conglomerate brews. what's going on?

when life gives you lemons, you’re experiencing the amazing invention of some prehistoric humans who thought to try cross-breeding a mandarin with a pomelo, and then crossed the resultant seville orange with a citron. already way more impressive than making lemons into lemonade!

@trkzn @williampietri @tilde will do! i’m not a printer myself but i may rope a friend into it.

@williampietri ahh yes, havent seen this video but do know finkel via that talk/doc about their recreation of noah's ark based on cuneiform tablet description and so on. that was super interesting! (so much so that i incorporated elements of the story into a book i'm working on)

@williampietri @tilde oh sick! though i'd much rather it not be made of plastic. hah, still... i suppose i could invert, print a mold, and then use it with actual clay!

@williampietri @tilde that’s awesome. is this 1:1 size reproduction or has it been scaled down? would love to acquire something like this

@kaoudis @tilde gives new meaning to the phrase “old as dirt”

apparently it’s quicker to fly from
new delhi to *tashkent* than new delhi to mumbai!?

just got back from a family gathering at my bro-in-law’s farm. and he brought out some pear cider he’d just made. dang, it was good! i might have a new favourite non-alc beverage!

@mwichary i imagine you mean semantically readable URIs, so this is different but related: for multi-country sites like amazon or ebay, love when you can just swap out the country code on the domain or main subdir (eg .ca for .co.uk) and it just works and loads the same listing

@sneak hah, just got an email from them today saying my login was in a data leak!
