And lo, the entire D&D 5th edition System Reference Document has been published under a Creative Commons license. At the end of the day that’s one of the most culturally significant CC releases ever. Wild. Thanks to all who advocated. #TTRPG #CreativeCommons
@mike but let's not stop now; let's keep the pressure on so that other publishers - Paizo, Chaosium, Pinacle, MCG, etc - all follow.
@DnDFanatics yeah, I think you missed the major point is that the #ogl is now dead; the #dnd #srd is now available under #creativecommons . The goal of #opendnd has been achieved.
Ahh... I mean sure. But only a melon would publish under 1.0a at this point. The Creative Commons for the D&D SRD is rather more relevant.
Oh! Which means that when Level Up takes the plunge you'll get the full rules for D&D 5e AND everything under Level Up 5e which is _rather more generous_ and offers rather more support.

Significantly outdoes

So @montecook, are MCG now going to release the #Cypher core system under #creativecommons , and join such great games as Blades in the Dark, Dungeon World, Gumshoe, and Fate?
@anastas2002@dice.camp @CheekyKokako it is genuine, set up by a partner (not Pinnacle), because I had a few chats with their admin. They had originally copied an aggressive block list from elsewhere and Qoto (my instance) was on it.
They removed it, but I still can't follow, so not sure what the issue is (could be a version thing; Qoto is a bit behind/customised).
But worth checking why it is being flagged.. maybe the "@" in the URL ... or maybe it is a shared server used by bad actors?
Either way, I don't think following from the Fediverse would be affected. You can paste the URL into the search/follow box (not your browser), or try their account @peginc@savageworlds.social
The #srd is such a small amount of content that putting it under #creativecommons has only benefits, and zero cost -- rules can't be copyrighted, and the #ogl was perpetual. Many other games already use CC. Negative association with brand doesn't make sense, as the SRD doesn't contain any brand stuff.
Another upside, is that it leapfrogs the #opendnd and #orc crowd -- so are Paizo #pathfinder, @peginc@savageworlds.social #SavageWorlds, Chaosium #basicroleplay all now going to move to Creative Commons as well? That would be great.
Ironsworn: Starforged is now available in print through Modiphius! Order online, or check with your favorite local game store about stocking or ordering Starforged.
Modiphius US:

Modiphius UK:

I've also added a new "buy" page to the official website with links for purchasing Ironsworn, Delve, and Starforged:

Thanks, as always, for supporting my creative endeavors!
@CheekyKokako I didn't see it mentioned yet, so Pinnacle Entertainment (PEG / Savage Worlds) have an account (& server): https://savageworlds.social/@peginc
(But I couldn't get it working, to follow)
I got TeslaMate (https://github.com/adriankumpf/teslamate) up and running via docker, so I can start collecting some data from my new car, and just did my first trip (to the shops at lunch).
Just a simple docker compose deploy, with PostgreSQL for the database, Grafana for the reporting, and Mosquitto (MQTT) for integration.
It runs on my own local server (QNAP NAS), but could be your own server in the cloud (you would need to add a secure proxy in front for access), and calls the Tesla API for realtime data.
New breach: Zurich Japan had 2.6M records compromised earlier this month with 756k unique email addresses. Data also included names, genders, DoBs and insured vehicle info. 19% were already in @haveibeenpwned. @CheekyKokako the free basic rules were never OGL. They were normal copyright.
For OGL, you need the System Reference Document (SRD).
@jameswallis Well, my wife phones me from the other end of the house, i.e. use mobiles as an intercom.
For the front door bell, I made sure to get a wired version, running on PoE, so no battery/wifi issues (but still vulnerable to complexity due to networking).
@majcher Starting from scratch with role-playing games, it is not D&D, but you can look at Fate https://fate-srd.com/ . Download the Fate Accelerated version and it will cover the basics.
RPGs are collaborative games, so you will need a few fellow players. You could try looking for a local game shop, or convention, and join a game there
If you really want just D&D, then pick up the Starter Set, which has already created characters and all the basics.
#penpot, the #opensource #design tool, will be out of beta at the end of this month - 31 January. @penpot launch page, for the livestream: https://penpot.app/countdown.html?mtm_campaign=penpotlaunchcountdown&mtm_source=fediverse
Of a half dozen pages on how to remove dual boot Linux (I'm giving an old computer to someone else) only one of them had a sanity check to change the default boot loader first, and make sure it was working (reboot a few times) before deleting the Linux partition. All the rest said to delete Linux first, then try and repaid/fix the boot, which seems quite crazy! The safe article: https://itsfoss.com/uninstall-ubuntu-linux-windows-dual-boot/
