You should set up and run + in you environment. Benefits are that it allows only devices a way to connect to IPv4 only servers, and provides valuable experience with IPv6, with no downsides. It does mean that dual stack devices will use NAT64 instead of NAT44, but you are still using NAT either way (and IPv4 devices always have to use NAT). See my article for more details and network diagrams sgryphon.gamertheory.net/2022/

@jheath I have not played it, but Ironsworn has some good reviews / ratings and reads okay. ironswornrpg.com/

@lifeofguenter @nixCraft My ISP has offered IPv6 for my home connection for about 5 years now. Implemented dual stack for everything at work about 12 years ago. Sure wish the rest of the world would just migrate already. Anyone who has not yet migrated is holding the entire world back.

@davey_cakes nice!

Sorry to brag, but my 11 year old daughter is becoming quite the #EddieMunson... er, I mean DM. I'm so proud. (And she loves my new #OSE gear!) #dnd #OldSchoolEssentials #oldSchoolDnD #ttrpg #strangerthings #osr

Electric vehicles are now tax exempt (FBT) in Australia, meaning you can salary package them pre-tax for significant savings. It is only for 3 years at the moment, but that could save maybe 25% of the cost of the vehicle. The legislation was passed just in time for my new Tesla to arrive. aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Busin

@tonic @ambihelical @freemo No. People use shortcuts all the time; it the only way to reasonably operate. But, bring evidence, with polite and respectful argument, and they may change. Applying a critical/skeptical mindset is something scientists do all the time, and is not "backpedaling".

And, ultimately it is a free world; that is the whole point of federation. If they just don't like you for some reason and still want to block you, that is their choice. They may lose members if they block to harshly, but that is up to them to make that mistake.

If everyone in the federation did the same thing, it would be pretty boring. Some people are just more cautious than others (e.g. put 10 innocent people in jail to ensure that 1 guilty person doesn't get away).

There is no reason to be rude about it, however. People are just different.

To everyone in the #TTRPG space freaking out over Hasbro's statement that #dnd is under-monetized:

They're talking about the D&D BRAND, not the GAME.

Yes, they're going to expand offerings for the #RPG and pressure players to sub to D&D Beyond more, but what they're mainly talking about is movies, TV shows, video games, t-shirts, action figures...you know, REAL money.

(2) it made me realize that these new technologies for generating images and text and code are tools for artists with genuine ideas, not substitutes for them. It is comparable to when the camera was introduced and “real artists” who had learned to paint were shocked and threatened. Nevertheless, paintings were still valuable, and people who had artistic ability to do nice things with photography were valuable too, and now we live in a world saturated with photographs and we are no poorer.

Grouchy old IT guy who complains if you don't support #ipv6, #openstandards, and #opensource. #amateurradio operator N3PB. I've used a #pdp8, managed a VM/CMS system and assorted Unix(-like) systems for 30+ years.

Folks in the #ipv6 world may recognize the Legacy IP Only warning sticker in the photo. I made those circa 2013 and many other people have printed their own version since then.

Gloomhaven Role Playing Game Some awesome folks have worked on this! Announced! #ttrpg #rpg #gloomhaven

Unlike other RPG systems reliant on dice and set character build structures – Gloomhaven: The Role Playing Game will continue to uphold one of Cephalofair’s core mission statements – to “minimize randomness and reward player savvy”.

@amber I would say the closet thing is Matrix.

It's federated like Fediverse and it uses end to end encryption everywhere that isn't a public channel.

It's still quite new so it's not yet as slick as Discord and Signal.

@JohnWSheldon most have some form of advancement.

Cortex, e.g. Firefly, is fairly flat, as most advancements just give additional options, but options themselves are very neutral, e.g. "upgrade X for the scene by downgrading Y". A lot of advancement is the same, e.g. increase stat A by decreasing B.. Past experience can grant bonuses, but it is limited.

Pendragon spans multiple generations, and while characters advance, when they die their young child takes over (kind of a reset).

Polaris: Chivalric Tragedy at Utmost North has two pairs of attributes: Ice & Fire, and Zeal & Weariness. As you gain experience Ice/Fire goes up and Zeal goes down (or Weariness, a negative, goes up). Usage varies during game, but a roll of Ice+Zeal might start at 1+4, but then after level up be 2+3. Transformation rather than advancement.
