Some people wander wherever the wind blows,
Watching the weather vane sputter and spin.
I've spent a lifetime just peering in windows,
Wondering whether I want to come in.
The sunlit days are everything.
When folks come to visit, I can't help but sing.
But it's a phase, and when it's gone.
I'm left here to shiver and sulk on the lawn.
Can't climb down the chimney; the roof is too tall,
And these castles I build in the air always fall.
Is a fire in the hearth such a faraway dream?
I cannot let it go.
Now the ties that I banked on are all on the rocks,
And it's kind of like building with alphabet blocks,
Every single community, rafter to beam,
Eventually brought low.
Look to the future; there's time left to labor.
While I've no roommate, I look to my neighbor.

Here is a blog post I wrote a few days ago on the last 20 years of open science. The main point being that we haven't really made use of the internet to change how we define and conduct research projects. In many senses, I find #qoto sets high standards for communication in #fediverse. You have enabled connected services, allowed 65K characters, you have robust policy, we can use markdown in posts, and you are also very welcoming, responsive, and open community!

Twitter became a place for people who want to promote, perform, and extract. Mastodon is a place for people who want to discuss, engage, and share.
It had to be that way. Twitter the platform serves Twitter's owners whose only real motivation is profit; our attention is the product. The #fediverse and #mastodon serve all of us, the members and the admins; our attention is the animating energy.

It's fantastic that #ComicsTwitter has started coming over, but please check out creative instances other than mastodon.social. It's too bogged down right now.

I am _slowly_ giving the final touches of the first "release" of my #evolutionary #optimization #framework in #julialang :julia:🦎

The idea is to be able to carry out experiments without too much hassle, using reusable pieces of code to make your own #algorithms. It is still unborn, but would like to get some feedback before the first release. Maybe I can make it available as a package... who knows.

15 mins warmup + 10x(2 mins walk + 4 mins run)
The heart rate graph is totally sinusoidal.
