@smellsofbikes Nice! It's satisfying to fix something like this and hopefully improve it in the process.
Now that the temperature is in the 60s, it was really noticeable that it felt like steam coming out of the washing machine. But I wash in cold water. I've been showering in straight cold water, which I almost never do.
So I took my precision food thermometer and measured the "cold" tap water: 81.1F (!)
Our water comes from the West Fork River, so I imagine the river must be even warmer than the tap water. Can the freshwater fish survive that high a temperature -- fish that are designed to survive when the river is covered with ice?
@HopelessDemigod I should mention that PVDF (polyvinylidine flouride) exists and is used. You may have used it yourself as Kapton tape (to protect PC board fingers during wave soldering) and Kynar insulation on wire-wrap wire.
I've used it for those purposes and one more striking characteristic -- it's piezoelectric(!) I've used it to make ultrasonic transducers.
@HopelessDemigod I don't know enough chemistry to suggest a solution. I suspect there isn't a good one or it would have been created by now.
Your Labor Day Reminders:
•Unions increase wages ~11%
•Min Wage Should be $27/hour
•Reaganomics stole $50T from working people
•Corporations commit $50B in annual wage theft
•“Right to work” laws were made to uphold white supremacy
•Billionaire philanthropy is PR to distract from their tax avoidance
•Americans suffer worse inequality today than before The Great Depression
Here's how we stop this class warfare against working people

@DarleneRyan Not Canadian here, can't sign the petition. Don't know what Highway 400 is. But I hope Highway 400 is the biggest, most important, most heavily traveled highway in the country.
@lovelylovely Thanks for posting. Yes, well, as the years have gone by, and then the MAGA years, it was clear the Republicans were digging a very, very deep hole for themselves. I didn't have much hope. But it was clear to me that if the "minions" ever woke up from their cultish trance and looked around with clear eyes, the backlash could be extreme.
People don't like being fooled, tricked, deceived, used. It's very hard to admit you were tricked and deceived so people resist it. This works in the Republican's favor. But if people do realize it and get over that inherent psychological resistance to admitting error, whoo boy. Look out because it transforms into a cold-blooded anger you don't want to see.
Could happen. We'll see. If it does, it's lucky for the Republicans that we live in more civilized times than 500 years ago and before.
What's going on in Israel has me puzzled. I participated in antiwar protests during the Vietnam War years. I saw that only a small percentage of people are willing to get off the couch, go outside, go to a protest, and risk unpleasant police interactions.
The population of Israel is just under 10 million. For hundreds of thousands of people to protest in the streets is HUGE. Is Netanyahu paying any attention? His response, "Don't preach to me," isn't a valid response. It's the kind of thing an angry parent might say when they run out of ammunition and lean back on their inherent authority. The people protesting are not children and they deserve an adult response.

@wonkothesane @mathaetaes @mekkaokereke Yup. I was visiting Portland we joked about how good the city look after being burned to the ground in the "BLM riots" 😃
It is so sad to me that people believe that sort of crap.
@TruthSandwich @andytiedye @br00t4c
We know that Hamas was responsible for the terrorist attacks on Israel in Oct-7-2023 which the pro-Palestine folks seems not to acknowledge Yes Bibi is a right-wing power hungry control freak that needs to resign.
As part of trying to understand why I get pulled over so much I've straight up asked cops and police chiefs why they pulled me over so much. And they say this.
For the most part, cops hate this system! It doesn't exist because cops like the arrest and ticket metrics. It exists because voters elect people that put ticket and arrest quotas on cops.
And because city budgets live on the revenue from tickets and court fees.
And this explains why cops can't solve crimes in Black neighborhoods...
I hope Jack Smith got to watch this interview to take notes:
" “It’s so crazy that my poll numbers go up. Whoever heard — you get indicted for interfering with a presidential election where you have every right to do it — you get indicted and your poll numbers go up,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News. "

The shadow realm of secret wealth and offshore tax havens is more than a nuisance for democracies — it has become a threat to their very existence. What if we just shut it all down?
Donald Trump opened Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in 1983 and occupied the penthouse himself. The building was intended to advertise its owner’s wealth, and also to attract other rich tenants — including, ironically, the very secretive rich. Trump would sell 43 condos in Manhattan’s flashiest building to shell companies based in jurisdictions such as Panama, the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands, which conceal corporate records. He sold another six condos, for cash, to corporations based in Delaware, which has historically had the least transparent company laws in the US....
The SOB broke a Federal Law not just a Rule!
32 CFR § 553.32 - Conduct of memorial services and ceremonies.
Where does Trump get the idea that the Gold Star Families can excuse him from following the LAW?
"Sure, I robbed the bank but the bank President said I could."!
