Not just that, with basic IT courses to introduce people to the internet, people are simple directed to soures of news such as the bbc, or even google / facebook, as if there they are the only sources of information, you search with google, for example. So search resuts are manipulated from the start.
Western meddling is the key here, watching the documentary "The Promised land" Palestine was a British mandate or something, after wwii and jews were repatriated from europe to palestine, this was carved up to give them a home land. It seems when the going got tough, the britsh got out.
As with many things, this is one part of the history of them so called Great british empire we don't seem to learn about (like what happened in india to create pakistan, but also disputed regions such as Kashmir.
Sure we brought trade and many other good things to the world, alongj with industry, trains etc, but the empire also did a lot of damage (slave trade for example) even though the Royal navy did enforce the ban on slavery.
I need to rewatch the documentary as in general it is easy to mis things which can be picked up after multiple viewings but the situation is complex, it is not hard to see how the British contributed to the situation.

After that news about Facebook's "Link History" feature, I've decided to close down the Marvelous Monarch Seed Swap Network on there, with a post mentioning Mastodon and Friendica and doing hashtag searches. So...
...this is a hashtag beacon post for anyone from over there who might migrate to over here. There's the generic #seedswap hashtag that's been here a while, but for beacon purposes I'm adding #MarvySwap.
Of course anybody else interested in swapping seeds is welcome. It's nearing that time of year when starting seeds indoors for the upcoming growing season is in order.

Where the HELL is the International criminal court to hold people to account and put an end to this.

I just learned the exact location of the attack in Beirut. It’s not even one block away from where some of my family lives and where I lived when I was living in Lebanon/stay when I visit. It went off in the exact same building where I used to get my hair done.
My family who lives there- along with most people living in that neighborhood (Al dahiyeh)- all moved there after being forcibly displaced from south Lebanon by Israel. Israel has been surveilling this neighborhood in particular for years because of the population of resistance fighters that live there. Everyone is relatively fine, a bit scared, but ok. When I talk to them they just say “3adi, we’re used to it.” “3adi” means “normal” or “ordinary”
There is nothing normal or ordinary about this. But the sad and scary part is when they say that, I know they mean it.
