From the Beatles song Back in the USSR
The Ukraine girls really knock me out, they leave the west behind
The Moscow girls make be sing and show
That Georgias always on my mind
Perhaps that may give an idea as to Putins next target.
As for taking Putin out ( there are suggestions he should be assassinated) if that happens his deputy would take over, who seems to be just as bad as Putin. People should be careful what they wish for or suggest.
I agree that the west needs to build up it's defensive capability. Not just in the military sense, but also within the cyber world too, ensure we have critical infrastructure properly protected, those using that fully understand why we are using Multifactor authentication, strong passwords and have robust policies on how and where data is stored, and for the transfer of data on / off sites.
We also seem to have problems with bad actors gaining entry to the country or worse gaining access to critical systems through employment.
Slight tangent here, but the Sarah Everard case highlighted the rogue police officer Wayne Cousins should NEVER have been allowed in to the police service in the first place, so it shows holes in background checks. So we just need to be far more robust, regardless of how much extra paperwork that involves.
Vladimir Putin is an unpredictable dictator, and unfortunately the West still does not understand his real goals. It’s not about the conquest of Ukraine, Poland or the US.

To clarify I mean the comments made would be Illegal.
No matter how old I get, I'll never understand people thinking that the doctors, researchers and public health professionals toiling in obscurity are the people lying and hurting people, but the politicians and billionaires creating power and wealth are the ones telling the truth and saving their lives. That's a special kind of stupid or brainwashing to which I cannot relate.
Latest pre-print from Akiko Iwasaki’s group shows differences in immune responses between women and men with Long Covid- suggests role for hormones and levels of testosterone in immune response and development of combustion- women had more exhausted t cells, antibodies to latent viruses, males higher natural killer (innate cell) responses but not monocytes. Also emphasises the need for looking at sex differences in prior studies. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.02.29.24303568v1

If if these reports are accurate then they would be ILLEGAL in the UK and other countries, they sound very similar to the sort of langage Hitler and others used with regard to the Jews.
Given the links between mainstream social media and mental health, we need MORE of those mental health charities on here, by doing so it may encourage people to the Fediverse, and they can do exactly as you have just said here, it may reduce or at least start to help.
'The tech giants have been preparing ahead of a Wednesday deadline to comply with a new European Union law intended to increase competition in the digital economy. The law, called the Digital Markets Act, requires the biggest tech companies to overhaul how some of their products work so smaller rivals can gain more access to their users.'

Excellent thread from Brian.
I love it especially because my PhD thesis is looking at how we regulate the security and deployment of critical software _as a facet of CNI cyber resilience_.
Also, Brian raises the role of procurement regs as a regulatory lever, among others. Now, in principle (and I've written on this too in the context of the Quad's Joint Principles for Secure Software), they should be a powerful one.
But I was chatting about this with someone who used to be in government (now, industry) and they said that, bar the massive vendors, most vendors will not bother bidding for contracts because of the compliance headache and uncertainty about even winning tenders.
