University staff across the UK will strike for 18 days between February and March in disputes over pay, conditions and pensions. https://nation.cymru/news/university-staff-warned-of-damaging-impact-strikes-could-have-on-students/ https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1613855312058159108
With what looks like very little active effort to reach out and look to recruit people.
People of all ages can train and or retrain for work, they just need to know what to retrain for There are grass roots initiative for STEM (i run one) but sadly industry are just rubbish at engagement, they cry out for people but don't seem to want to engage.
Just contacted UK space today so hopefully they will get back to me at some point.

The PinePower devices from @PINE64 look really great. I’m considering buying one of each, the portable one for traveling and the desktop one for when I’m at home.
The portable one would actually be a great gift for my dad, who’s frequently traveling for work. Half the weight of his regular MacBook charging brick but has international adapters, can charge both his Mac and his phone, and even my mom’s Mac too if they’re both traveling.
I can see how it would be useful though, and as more content is here, then people will find posts on here easier and may join as a result.
@zleap Some people want to be indexed. So you can't exactly stop it from happening.
We might want to build better search services that are specifically opt-in and honours consent.
Maybe the fediverse can change this,
Here's your regular reminder that pre-ordering books (and requesting them in advance from your library) is The single best way to support authors. These days, if a book doesn't get a lot of pre-orders, it's already at a huge disadvantage before it even comes out. #xp
Dear latest dumpster fire immigrants.
First, you will find PLENTY of people who will be more then happy to tell you how to use Mastodon. So don't worry if you don't understand something. No one's going to give you shit. Just ask.
Also, this isn't the place you came from and it's not trying to be. The vibe is different here. No algorithm telling us what's important. There's no clout chasing. It's all USER driven here.
That means you are no longer the product.
Welcome to a real social network.
Medium embraces Twitter alternative Mastodon with launch of its own community.
So very sad to hear of the passing of #ChristopherTWalsh of #Harvard. Whilst I was a grad student in the #chemistry dept at #MIT his lab was next to ours. He taught the course on #enzymes, one of my favorite. What a kind and brilliant person; he will be deeply missed.

So how do we stop them doing that when I assume it would require all instances to do this. ?
