Indeed, hopefully as fedi understands the issues elsewhere, what happens here will be different.
@smallcircles @deadsuperhero @atomicpoet @b3n @timbray - and back on topic, it could also give brands a place to push things without being too intrusive - with the lack of an algorithm or purchase of ad space - brands will need to provide value to get followed. (not a bad idea, but will take time for the adaption)
Inconsiderate parking seems to be commonplace in the UK sadly.
@ianwalker just a little illustration from outside our school two days ago (can’t be bothered to hide number plates). Meanwhile our local park 200m away is completely flooded by unprecedented amounts of rain. I know the links are tangential but they are there and i wish people would see them but they just don’t
UK politics, gender recognition
I have no problem with this bill, I have no problem with Trans people, in fact I know people who are trans.
I have an issue with how the press and media report all kinds of related issues in a way that clearly takes one side or the other, or just mis represents facts making it harder to make obhective decisions.
This bill is surely designed to help people, there has to be safeguards in place to stop exploitaton of anyone who is vulnerable (of any age). I am sure there are probably provisions for this in the bill. Where there are opportunities someone somewhere will find a way to exploit that person.

They recognised that and took steps to try and resolve, any organisation that can't reflect and adapt is surely doomed.
Just look at the MET police, they have serious issues but refuse to face and tackle those issues robustly and head on, Even with change of leadership the rot was set in.
This Next-Generation Display Technology Is Going to Change the World
“Direct view, electroluminescent quantum dot displays. You can think of it like a traditional LED LCD or OLED display, but instead of LCD or OLED pixels, it's pixels made of just quantum dots. Note the far fewer layers, which theoretically should mean lower production costs and other benefits.” #Science #QuantumDots #Display #Nanotechnology

Spotted in a sketchy industrial area of Milwaukee, by David Eicher (chief editor of Astronomy Magazine), this extraordinary mural depicting the Andromeda Galaxy.

That is huge, so it would take about 1200 seconds for light to travel from one side to the other.
If it takes six seconds for light to travel from our Sun to Earth, a distance of 1AU
So a 100 AU radius would giver a 200 Au diameter, if we multiply that by six seconds we get 1200 seconds, so a photon would take 1200 seconds to move across the diameter of the star,
If that even makes sense.
Still pretty awesome though.
Question:
What is the inferred radius of Proxima Cen's astrosphere.
Answer:
About 100 AU.
I run a STEM group, my base line for success is more people being able to network and learn even small things or find someone who can help them, find new friends / contacts, rather than expecting people to produce something.
Hopefully we can start learing the GoDot engine, I know nothing about this, but there are enough resources on the internet to teach this. It will be a slow process so I am not going to put pressure on people,it is more plan sessions so they can watch a video for example
School / college / employment is about productivity, informal / casual groups are meant to be fun, so you could simply learn one very small thing, which is a big step.
In a world not made for us, it is important we recognize that we may need extra time to recharge our batteries and that is ok. Burnout is real and can sneak up on you.
They look like some sort of co-ordinates, ? other than that not sure,
Cosmic rays coming from outside the astrosphere have to pass through these boundaries. But some cosmic rays, which we call anomalous cosmic rays, because they are only partially ionized and not fully ionized, can be created directly at the termination shock.
Klaus presents us with models of the astrosphere of LHS 1149, showing us how the boundaries can be pushed close to the star. In future, his group wants to expand the model to better include turbulent transport.

I think to begin with we need to find a way to help boost those offering services of hosting instances, or helping others to set them up.
That way, in the first instance, a person running a large or small a business can join an instance as an individual, say they are running business x and they are looking for help to join properly as a business.
But they should be able to find someone local to them (local can mean all sorts of distances) who can help.
Indeed, so a return to old fashioned customer service. I think we get that from small business, the small computer shop on the high street for example.
In terms of Laptops, I would like to see shops sell them withut an OS or have them so they are free software friendly, as much as possible, so if they come with wifi that works easily out of the box.
While I appreciate free software sometimes we HAVE to install that 3rd party firmware to get wifi working for example.
